Pink Tutu Rome: #674 - Ciao Bella, Roma!

Buongiorno, darling readers! It's Wednesday, and that means it's time for another installment of my Rome adventures here on Pink Tutu! This week, I'm all about la dolce vita and the fabulous city of Rome. I'm wearing my new blush pink tulle tutu - I simply had to find the perfect shade to match the glorious sunset here, you know? It's got a lovely swish and twirl, perfect for gliding around the ancient streets, dreaming of Roman gods and gladiators.

The Train to Tuscany - And A Pink Tutu Surprise

The journey from Derbyshire to Rome, was, of course, by train. It wouldn't be a proper Pink Tutu adventure without the glorious sights, sounds, and camaraderie of a train trip. I absolutely love trains! You never know who you'll meet, or what exciting sights you might catch through the window.

And this time, something amazing happened. I was just settling into my comfy seat, sipping on my Earl Grey tea, when the conductor noticed my fabulous pink tutu. "What a beautiful tutu!" he exclaimed, beaming. "Are you on your way to the ballet?" I blushed (but not too much, my dear readers, remember the blush-toned tutu!), and said "I am indeed! I'm here to explore Rome and take in all the beauty the city has to offer."

"Well, you know, you can twirl anytime, even on the train! There's nothing stopping you," the conductor declared, winking.

He was absolutely right! I knew then, this trip to Rome would be extraordinary. It wasn't just the train journey, although it had certainly set the mood. Something about the sun, the cobblestones, the ancient ruins – it felt as though even Rome itself was encouraging a bit of a Pink Tutu twirl.

A Day in Rome - History, Fashion, and Delicious Delights

We arrived at Termini station, a majestic place bustling with activity and people from every corner of the globe. I was filled with anticipation and couldn't wait to start exploring! I already knew I'd be checking out the Pantheon – a magnificent building, its beauty surpassing anything I've ever seen before. And speaking of surpassing, I definitely had to find some gorgeous clothes and accessories for my Italian adventures!

The first order of the day, naturally, was a delicious breakfast – coffee and a cappuccino in a little café just off the main square, watching the world go by. The Italian coffee really was a perfect kick-start to the day, full of rich, creamy deliciousness.

Then, it was time for a little history and sightseeing. The Pantheon was simply stunning. I twirled in front of its magnificent dome, feeling incredibly small and insignificant in the presence of such a timeless masterpiece. But, don’t you know, there was no need to be! The beautiful architecture made me feel as though even I was part of this history, just waiting for the opportunity to add my own twist!

Then, on to the Trevi Fountain – just as amazing and impressive as it appears in all those photos! But when I threw in my coin and made my wish, I was careful to ensure it landed with a beautiful pink Tutu-esque twirl. I’m sure it increased the likelihood of coming true. You never know!

The Heart of Rome - Piazza Navona, Roman Gods, and Pink Tutu Dreams

Of course, no visit to Rome would be complete without a trip to the bustling Piazza Navona! What a sight to behold – artists, street performers, fountains galore! I sat there, tucked in the corner of a little café, sketching the lively scene and savoring the scent of Italian street food, all while enjoying a beautiful, light and fluffy panna cotta. I love the fact that everyone here, no matter their background or origin, seems to share a love for beautiful things.

A local vendor, a young, charming artist, saw me sketching and was curious about the ballerina tutu. "Are you a dancer?" he inquired.

"Why yes, I am," I beamed, "And I just love travelling and sharing my passion for ballet and everything pink. It brings so much joy!"

The artist smiled and said, "I can see why! You remind me of the beautiful nymphs in our Roman legends, gracefully twirling in the fields!"

"Ooh, that is lovely! And maybe, just maybe," I whispered playfully, "I can bring the pink tutus to the ancient gods!" I can tell he's thinking about getting his muse to wear one, for his next masterpiece. Perhaps for the goddess Minerva, perhaps for the lovely goddess Flora – wouldn't that be magnificent?

Pink Tutu and Ballet Performances in Rome - Finding The Beauty

This week, I saw a truly inspiring show. I’ve been to so many ballets, but it seems to be even more spectacular here in Rome! I went to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma to watch the beautiful “Swan Lake” with its enchanting music and the delicate dance between swan and prince. And, of course, it brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes – it’s so moving! It reminds us all of our innate desire for beauty and graceful expression.

But my favourite part of the evening was finding another tutu-loving dancer after the show. We were both drawn to the soft pink velvet benches on the terrace overlooking the city lights and shared our stories about ballet and travelling. I’ve never been more excited about sharing a passion with someone in another part of the world. I think this just confirms how interconnected we all are, right? And why I absolutely have to share Pink Tutu with as many people as possible!

It was the most lovely encounter, it really made the whole experience extra special.

The Pink Tutu Roman Shopping Spree!

Now, my dear readers, you know I'm always on the lookout for fabulous fashion finds – and I’m just not the type of gal to let Rome pass me by without a little shopping therapy! Today was all about browsing, exploring, and finding hidden gems among the chic boutiques and vintage stores.

Of course, I went with my blush pink tutu to make sure my purchases had a matching, graceful air. And wouldn’t you know, the stores were just overflowing with beautiful pink things. From silk scarves with romantic florals to pink beaded earrings, I’m really quite spoilt for choice, it's truly amazing. It's been such a lovely day, exploring the cobblestone streets of Rome and getting inspiration for new outfits – for me, shopping always feels so creative and exciting. It's about expressing my personality and adding my little twist to the world.

Ciao for Now, But More Pink Tutu Rome to Come!

Ciao bella! It's getting late, but the moon looks simply divine from my little balcony here at the hotel, and there’s a twinkle in the sky that reminds me of ballet sequins. So, it’s time for a little nightcap of dreamy pink and rose petal flavoured tea.

Until next week, darling readers! Don't forget to spread the joy, dance a little, and, of course, wear your pink tutus! Keep an eye out for Pink Tutu next week when I tell you all about my time at the Vatican. I’m just itching to twirl my way through the halls, imagine that! You can always find me on www.pink-tutu.com – see you then!

Love and tutus,

Emma x
