Pink Tutu Rome: #676 Wednesday 2008-05-21 - Ciao Bella!
Well, here I am! Finally made it to Rome! I was so excited to hop on the train from Derbyshire, with my bright pink tutu swishing around me, feeling like a proper little ballerina jetting off on adventure. This is a dream come true, finally exploring this stunning city! I've always wanted to visit the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain, it’s been on my wish list for years! I can’t believe I’m actually here!
The Train Ride
The train journey was an absolute delight. It felt so luxurious! There was even a little shop on board, where I treated myself to some lovely Italian biscotti and a cappuccino. As we sped through the countryside, the green hills, rolling vineyards, and quaint little villages went past in a beautiful blur. I got a real sense of that authentic Italian charm! And the views were absolutely breathtaking. You could practically feel the sun-drenched romance in the air.
I’ve always loved travelling by train. It gives me a chance to escape into a world of imagination. I find myself staring out of the window, imagining myself in a ballet performance. This time, I imagined myself gliding across a stage adorned with ancient Roman mosaics, while the air vibrated with the music of Vivaldi.
The Pink Tutu’s Roman Debut
Once I reached Rome, my first priority, of course, was a good spin! It seemed like everyone was captivated by my pink tutu – everyone from street musicians to chattering tourists. Even the gelato man gave me a wink! It’s such a joyous feeling, making people smile with your twirling and twirling! It just adds a touch of magic to the day.
A Trip to the Trevi Fountain
The Trevi Fountain was simply incredible. The details on the marble sculptures are so intricate, you could get lost in them for hours! You really feel like you're in an ancient film! I couldn’t resist tossing a coin over my shoulder, for luck of course! (Maybe to come back here and have even more ballet adventures!). My aim is to inspire as many people as possible to embrace their own inner ballerina – so throwing a coin over the Trevi Fountain is definitely my little prayer!
La Dolce Vita!
It’s no wonder they call it "La Dolce Vita!" – sweet life indeed! The energy in Rome is fantastic, full of laughter, music, and sunshine. There’s so much to discover and explore. I even spotted a street performer doing a beautiful solo on the violin while twirling around in a brightly coloured tutu. I was absolutely captivated! This trip has truly brought out my inner dancer! It's inspired me to channel my passion into my own dance routines! I hope to share some of these steps in a future blog post – so stay tuned, my darlings!
A Night at the Teatro dell’Opera
I have a special ballet performance at the Teatro dell’Opera tonight – oh, the anticipation! I can’t wait to be amongst the vibrant crowds, adorned in exquisite outfits, watching dancers soar through the air. The whole city seems to be humming with the energy of culture. It's amazing how such a small city can encompass so many art forms! I just hope I’ll find a lovely little bakery nearby where I can buy some croissants for the show. I love sharing yummy treats with my ballet colleagues before a performance, it really makes it feel like one big team!
Looking Forward to the Week Ahead
I’m planning a visit to the Colosseum and Palatine Hill tomorrow, and hopefully catch a glimpse of the Roman Forum too. I might even have time to do some shopping and indulge in a delicious Roman lunch with some authentic pasta! I've already started writing notes on some outfits for my next ballet show, inspired by the colours and fabrics I’ve seen so far.
There’s so much I want to explore, so many amazing sights and experiences waiting for me in this magical city! Stay tuned for next Wednesday’s post, darlings, where I’ll be sharing more adventures from my time in Rome. I’m also planning a very special tutu inspired piece – and maybe even some fashion ideas! And most importantly, my quest to make every one wear a pink tutu! Ciao Bella, from Pink Tutu Rome!
