Pink Tutu Rome: Post #681 - Ciao Bella, Rome!

Buongiorno from sunny Rome, darling! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for my weekly Pink Tutu travel update - this week straight from the heart of Italy! I'm feeling absolutely giddy with excitement, my dear friends, as this trip has been a long time coming.

It's been a whirlwind of beautiful architecture, delicious pasta, and charming Italian charm - and, of course, no trip is complete without a touch of pink tutu! My pink tulle has been swishing and swirling all over Rome, causing quite the stir, naturally!

For those who are new to Pink Tutu, I'm Emma, a Derbyshire girl with a penchant for pink and a passion for ballet. You'll find me twirling in a pink tutu wherever I go, spreading the message of joy, confidence, and the ultimate expression of femininity - all whilst documenting my adventures through the lens of my trusty camera.

This week in Rome has been pure magic. The journey here by train was a dream. I love the romantic clatter of the tracks, the views whizzing by, and the air of anticipation as I journey to a new destination. Every train journey feels like a step into a storybook!

Rome, as they say, is truly "the eternal city", and I can understand why! The streets are full of history, the architecture is stunning - Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps - these are iconic places you just have to experience to truly appreciate. Every corner reveals another hidden treasure - a secret piazza, a captivating church, a charming little trattoria, tucked away, waiting to be discovered.

The first thing that struck me was the sheer abundance of beauty here. Rome's rich history is everywhere you look - from the ancient ruins to the Baroque palaces, it’s simply awe-inspiring. It's like a living museum, and I’ve been taking in all the details with a wide-eyed wonder, just as a child might.

Of course, no trip to Rome is complete without indulging in its culinary delights! Pasta, pasta, glorious pasta - you haven't lived until you've sampled the incredible array of fresh pasta dishes in Rome. I've been on a culinary adventure, exploring the traditional recipes and secret family recipes. You can bet I’ve sampled them all with gusto!

And speaking of indulgence, let’s talk shopping, darlings! Rome is a paradise for fashion lovers, a haven for discovering beautiful shoes, exquisite jewellery, and elegant fabrics. I’ve found myself browsing antique markets, admiring the vintage garments, and falling in love with all the treasures nestled in these unique stores. It's so exciting to feel the history of the city seeping into the garments and finding new gems to add to my personal style.

Now, you know how I feel about ballet. The perfect ballet outfit must be paired with the perfect shoes - ballet slippers or elegant high heels, the perfect accessory for an evening of entertainment. A ballet performance is truly my favourite pastime and of course, I'm always on the lookout for a performance while I'm on the road. And Rome certainly didn't disappoint!

Today, on the 25th June 2008, I indulged in the beautiful artistry of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. The exquisite setting was absolutely captivating, the ballet a mesmerizing masterpiece, with dancers gliding across the stage like ethereal beings. I spent the entire evening mesmerised, twirling my pink tutu to the captivating music! The magic was palpable, and it truly felt like I was in a fairytale.

The world is full of hidden wonders and Rome has stolen my heart with its charm and captivating beauty. There’s nothing quite like discovering a new place, especially one that's rich in history and artistry. My tutu and I are still savouring the flavour of the city, so be sure to check back next Wednesday for more Pink Tutu Rome adventures. I’ll share some hidden gems, explore local markets, and maybe even try my hand at creating my own Roman dish!

Until next week, darling, remember to embrace the joy of life, the magic of travel, and don't forget your pink tutu!

Love,
Emma
