Pink Tutu Rome: Post #684 - Ciao Bella, Roma!

Hello darlings! Itā€™s Wednesday, and you know what that means... itā€™s time for a brand new Pink Tutu Rome post! I'm bursting with excitement to share this weekā€™s adventure, which, as you can probably guess from the title, takes us all the way to Rome!

From Derbyshire to Italy ā€“ All Aboard the Tutu Express!

Remember that breathtaking performance I gave last week at the Derby Theatre? Well, the standing ovation not only warmed my heart but also padded my travel fund! I was thrilled to finally book my trip to Rome - a city I've dreamt of exploring since I was a little girl, gazing at images of the Colosseum in my ballet school books.

Thereā€™s nothing I love more than the feeling of a train journey ā€“ especially on a glamorous Italian train, adorned with beautiful artwork and complete with that distinct, aromatic coffee scent. With my pink tulle suitcase (naturally) nestled comfortably in the overhead rack and my favourite ballerina playlist blasting through my pink headphones, I embraced the Italian countryside in all its picturesque glory. Every passing field of wildflowers and cypress-lined road brought me closer to that incredible, historic energy that only Rome can deliver.

Pink Tutu & The Eternal City

And oh my goodness, Rome didn't disappoint! The moment I stepped onto the cobbled streets, a feeling of absolute wonder took over. The air hummed with history ā€“ the ancient architecture, the lively cafes overflowing with chatter and laughter, the scent of fresh gelato, it was like a scene straight out of a movie!

The first thing on my agenda, of course, was a pink-tutu-friendly shopping spree! Via Condotti was a dream come true! Imagine a street filled with exquisite Italian craftsmanship and designer boutiquesā€¦ swoon! While the prices might be a little steep, even window shopping was pure bliss. I spotted some fabulous tutus - a coral one from a little artisan shop in particular had me completely enthralled, but it would have had me dancing the ā€œempty purseā€ blues for a while!

Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without a delicious pasta lunch. I treated myself to a divine dish of creamy carbonara and, yes, I did wear my tutu for it - Rome embraces style, and this girl wasnā€™t going to be outdone by the locals.

Dancing in the Pantheon

Rome is teeming with stunning locations for ballet. The Pantheon is an absolute dream - its massive dome seems to float on a light beam. The way the sunlight dances through the oculus is enchanting. I simply had to take a photo in front of this masterpiece of architecture. The soft, neutral tones of the Pantheon complimented my tutu perfectly. The way the marble and the pink tulle blended, it felt like a scene from an ethereal ballet performance.

Fashionable Finds and Theatre Treats

Of course, my day wouldn't be complete without a trip to a stylish boutique to stock up on new wardrobe additions. You'd be amazed at the stunning designs I found! Thereā€™s something about Italian style that is simply unparalleled - elegant, chic, and timeless. And believe me, they know their tutus - I stumbled across the most fabulous, luxurious, full-length pink tutu in the prettiest silk ā€“ sigh! Itā€™s going straight onto my showstopper list.

But as much as I adore shopping, ballet is my true passion. The Teatro dellā€™Opera di Roma is a cultural treasure. Tonight, I have tickets to see a performance of "Swan Lake," a truly iconic ballet with exquisite choreography. I'm giddy with excitement, especially after discovering a charming little bakery that makes the most delectable, ballet-themed cakes (think pink tutus, miniature pointe shoes, and even mini ballerinas crafted entirely out of meringue)! I couldn't resist taking a few photos with my "swan" cake before taking it back to my hotel. Rome truly knows how to cater to a girl's sweetest dreams.

My Tutu Tips for Rome:

  • Don't be afraid to stand out, Rome is all about embracing unique style.
  • Carry a water bottle to stay hydrated, it gets hot in the city!
  • The best time for exploring Rome on foot is early morning. Itā€™s quiet, and you can capture some incredible shots of the city in all its golden light.

Pink Tutu & A Promise

As I conclude this post, I canā€™t help but feel overwhelmed with joy. Every detail of this Roman adventure has been absolutely magical. This city pulsates with artistry, history, and fashion. Iā€™ve had my fair share of adventures, but Rome has truly stolen my heart!

Remember darlings, always be bold, always wear your tutu, and never be afraid to dance your way through life. Iā€™ll be back next week with more Pink Tutu stories, but for now, until then, I wish you all a week full of sparkles, elegance, and oh so much fun!

See you next Wednesday!
