Pink Tutu Rome: #683 - Ciao Bella!

Well hello darlings, and welcome back to another Pink Tutu adventure! This week I'm taking you on a whirlwind trip to the Eternal City - Rome! That's right, this Wednesday's post is all about la dolce vita and discovering the treasures of this magnificent city in the heart of Italy.

This week I travelled by train. The thrill of pulling up to a bustling train station in a foreign land just fills me with excitement, don't you agree? The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the rhythmic clanging of trolleys - just a touch of magic! And of course, I was dressed to impress. A vibrant pink tutu swishing around my legs as I negotiated the platform with a smile on my face - oh yes, my love of pink is definitely on show in Rome! I've been working tirelessly for this trip, performing in Derbyshire with some stunning new routines - you see, travelling and experiencing the world in a pink tutu is not cheap! So I'm thankful for all those lovely audiences, who allow me to dance my way across the globe.

Day One - Roman Revelations!

The Colosseum was incredible! Standing amidst the grandeur of this historic site, you truly feel the echoes of the gladiators and the cheers of the crowd - so powerful! We had the most delicious lunch in a little café just by the Trevi Fountain. Now, I've seen many a fountain in my time, but there is something truly magical about the Trevi Fountain. The twinkling water, the grandeur of the statues, and the myth that tossing a coin into the fountain will guarantee your return to Rome is utterly captivating. I of course, did my duty and tossed in a couple of shiny coins - let's just say I'm hoping to be back soon! Later that evening, we were mesmerised by a beautiful ballet performance at the Teatro dell'Opera. Seeing these exquisite dancers perform such technically demanding movements with such grace and finesse just made me long for a pair of pointe shoes again - it really is such a joy to be able to express yourself through ballet.

Day Two - Fashion & Food!

My wardrobe got a serious boost today! Shopping in Rome is like walking into a beautiful dream, with every shop window a window into a whole new world of fashion! We took a stroll through the cobbled streets, dodging crowds of tourists and charming locals alike. My trusty tutu did not get squashed once! Every corner in this city holds a new secret, every alleyway a story waiting to be unveiled. We found the most delightful boutique in Trastevere, with colourful clothing and handmade trinkets – a haven for any girly girl who enjoys a little whimsy. But shopping wasn’t all we did. Today’s itinerary also included an amazing pasta lunch. The taste of fresh pasta in Italy, you guys, I'm still dreaming about it!

Day Three - The Borghese Gallery & Garden

Today was an absolute treat for the senses. The Borghese Gallery, oh my goodness! The intricate details, the sculptures, the breathtaking paintings. It's truly like stepping back in time. My absolute favourite was Apollo and Daphne by Gian Lorenzo Bernini - so much movement and emotion. What I loved the most was walking through the manicured gardens around the gallery. Lush lawns, shimmering fountains and ancient sculptures hidden among the greenery… A complete sensory overload in the most beautiful way possible! I felt like a princess in my tutu, strolling amongst the elegance of this magnificent place.

And that’s a little snippet of my time in Rome! I wish I could write about everything we saw and did, but trust me, my adventures continue. Next week's blog will be about more incredible Italian wonders - maybe I'll finally get to meet a charming Italian gentleman who can waltz with me under the moonlit sky of the Roman forum - just you wait and see, darling! Until then, don’t forget to wear your pink tutu, because there's a whole world of magic waiting to be discovered with a twirl or two!

Don't forget to catch up with me on my website www.pink-tutu.com where I post all my ballet routines, my travels, my fashion finds, and yes, my life in pink tutus!

Lots of love, Emma xoxo
