Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2008-08-27 - Roman Revelations!

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger, back with another installment from the breathtaking city of Rome! It's Wednesday, which means it's Pink Tutu Rome time! This week's post marks a whopping 690 entries on my travel blog - can you believe it?!

Catching the Train

After my amazing performance last week at the Derby Theatre, I treated myself to a luxurious train journey down to the Eternal City. There's something so glamorous about travelling by train, don't you think? And of course, I made sure to make a statement! My travelling ensemble consisted of a delicate pink silk dress, a fluffy tulle pink tutu, and my trusty pink satin ballet shoes.

I always try to be respectful of local customs, but it's hard not to add a dash of pink to any journey! It's surprising how many people in Italy seem to embrace the pink tutu trend - I was even approached by a street performer who wanted to dance with me! It’s a lovely sign of the changing times.

Roman Romance

Arriving in Rome, I was immediately struck by the city’s incredible energy and beauty. Ancient history mingles seamlessly with modern life - imagine the history this cobblestone has witnessed! You can literally feel the vibrancy pulsating through the streets. My first order of business was, of course, a shopping spree at the glorious Rinascente department store - I managed to snag a beautiful, beaded pink evening gown perfect for a glamorous evening at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma!

Teatro Time

This Wednesday evening, I'm absolutely thrilled to be attending a stunning performance of 'Swan Lake'. Now, if you’ve been following my blog, you know I'm a sucker for ballet! It’s not just a passion for me, it’s a way of life, it’s my art, it’s my expression - I just live for the magic and grace of the dancers.

My seat is in the coveted ‘palco’ section - it offers an exceptional view of the entire stage, and of course, I’m looking forward to capturing some incredible photos! It's so fascinating to see how ballet is interpreted in different countries - I'm expecting a particularly dramatic rendition from this talented Italian cast!

Ciao Bella, Foodie Finds!

Rome isn't just about the arts - it’s also about the delicious cuisine! So far, I've already sampled some of the most delightful gelato in the world (the strawberry sorbet is heavenly) and had a picnic under the Roman sun, feasting on creamy pasta dishes and mouth-watering fresh bread. I even learned the secret of the perfect tiramisu – trust me, you want to know! I’ll be sharing the recipe soon on my website. I mean, after all, even ballerinas need to fuel their dancing with deliciousness, right?

My Rome Wish List

Speaking of dreams, there's still so much more I want to explore in Rome. It's a city that captivates the imagination.

I'd love to visit the breathtaking Colosseum, and then perhaps lose myself in the incredible art and culture at the Galleria Borghese. Imagine, exploring such an inspiring world of paintings! Oh, and of course, who can forget the beautiful Trevi Fountain? I'm dying to toss a coin in its cool water and wish for a happy life - maybe even filled with even more pink tutus!
