#PinkTutuRome: Ciao Bella! - Post #695

Wednesday 1st October 2008

Ciao bella! I'm writing this from my darling little pink hotel room, right in the heart of beautiful Rome, the very city that has been inspiring me since I was a little girl dreaming of being a ballerina! It's been a whirlwind of excitement, but of course, in true Pink Tutu fashion, I'm ready to share every bit of it with you all!

First things first, let's talk trains! You guys know how much I love them. Such a wonderfully efficient way to get around, don't you think? Plus, you get to take in all the views – countryside, towns, even a fleeting glimpse of some impressive cityscapes. I left Derbyshire this morning in my favourite pink travel ensemble, of course – a flowing floral pink skirt, a baby pink silk cami and a fluffy pink cardigan. All tucked away in my travel bag, and topped with my ever-present pink tutu. The one with the sparkle on it – a little bit of magic on the journey.

The journey itself was amazing – so full of energy, a real joy to watch the scenery zoom past. As soon as I arrived in Roma Termini, I was taken with the buzz of it all. A glorious, bustling metropolis full of energy and a million places to go. My little pink suitcase rolled happily along, and my mind already swirling with all the possibilities of this Italian adventure.

Speaking of possibilities, I'm really hoping to find a gorgeous vintage dress shop during my time here. It’s just so much more fitting for the city, isn't it? Imagine the romantic swirling skirts, the dramatic floral patterns – perfect for waltzing through the cobbled streets of Trastevere or admiring the Colosseum under a breathtaking Roman sky.

Of course, I can't possibly mention Italy without talking about the food! I've already sampled some delectable focaccia – I can honestly say it was practically exploding with flavour. Tonight, I'm planning to explore the Trastevere district for a delightful Roman pasta feast. It’s all about taking my time and experiencing every flavour. Who needs fancy haute cuisine when you've got simple, mouth-watering traditional Italian dishes? It's enough to make any ballerina want to skip across the piazza with glee!

I do think, however, that a performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma wouldn't go amiss. Imagine twirling under the stage lights of a historic Roman theatre! It would be a dream come true to watch an opera there.

But let's not forget my most important mission here: to spread the joy of the pink tutu, to find new kindred spirits, to inspire everyone I meet! And maybe even encourage some folks to give ballet a try – or at least slip on a pink tutu for a whirl around the Piazza Navona!

And who knows, maybe one of my amazing followers might even catch me out there. My secret identity: the pink-tutu-wearing ballet dancer extraordinaire, conquering Rome one pirouette at a time.

So keep your eyes peeled! This blog will be overflowing with tales of dancing through cobblestone streets, indulging in the finest gelato (pink flavour, naturally), and discovering all the wonders Rome has to offer. I'll also be showcasing my fabulous outfits – every day a new ensemble with my favourite pink tutu!

Ciao bella! Don't forget to visit PinkTutu.com each Wednesday for a dose of fashion, travel, and everything pink. We're spreading the joy, one tutu at a time!

P.S. If you're looking for me in Rome, try these:

The Opera: Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Via del Teatro Marcello, 00186 Roma For Focaccia: Forno Roscioli, Via dei Chiavari, 34, 00186 Rome The Piazza: Piazza Navona, 00186 Rome, Rome Shopping District: Via del Corso, Rome (It's just steps away from Piazza del Popolo, it is lined with fashion boutiques and upscale designer stores). Food: I am also aiming to find the best restaurant in the world for Truffle Macaroni, the only restaurant to hold 3 Michelin Stars for their amazing dish called “Tortellini al Tartufo bianco in brodo di cappone”. They call the macaroni the "cacio e pepe," but it isn't macaroni - but we must be polite so it would not hurt their feelings. I found the place on trip advisor - “La Pergola.”

Don’t forget to leave a comment and share your favourite travel tips or Italian pink must-haves. xx
