Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday, 5th November 2008 - Ciao Bella! (Post #700)
A presto, my lovelies! I'm so excited to be back in the Eternal City, and with this post marking my 700th, I think it's a fitting location to reach such a milestone. You know me, I always have my trusty pink tutu tucked in my bag - you can't truly travel the world without it, can you? And speaking of my travelling, you won't be surprised to know I'm here in Rome thanks to the wonderful world of ballet! A gorgeous show in Verona brought me across the Italian border on the "Frecciarossa", that speedy Italian train I love so much - the red ones are the fastest, you know - just like my heart beats for this amazing city!
Today's a Wednesday, so of course, I'm ready to soak up everything Rome has to offer, and you'll be seeing it all on pink-tutu.com! But first, let me fill you in on yesterday's delights, as I touched down just before dinner time, and oh boy, was it fabulous!
A Fashionable Stroll through History
The moment I set foot in the "Termini" station, I could practically feel the energy of this magnificent city. The bustling streets, the smell of fresh pastries, the charming trattorias… and, of course, the stunning architecture. My first stop was a must-see: the Colosseum. Its sheer scale left me speechless - you could stand a whole village within its walls!
And wouldn't you know it, my new vintage pink bag matched the faded pink glow of the sunset that painted the Coliseum's stone in such a lovely, soft light! Swoon Even my friend, Francesca (who lives here, and is such a sweet fashionista!) couldn't resist commenting on the delightful clash of pink with ancient Roman history. We spent the rest of the evening wandering around, popping into shops and browsing through stalls in Campo de' Fiori. The Italian vendors' charming attempts at English - ooh la la, you very beautiful - always put a smile on my face!
The Art of Eating - Ciao Bella, Food!
No trip to Rome is complete without indulging in its culinary delights! You already know I can't resist pasta (even in its many cheesy variations!). But I'm trying to be adventurous (for those of you new here, this is a big deal!) and last night I tucked into this incredible "cacio e pepe", which was just delicious. I've got to find more traditional dishes on this trip; that creamy, pepper-infused perfection made my heart sing! And the "gelato" (a must-have!), well, I tried every flavor I could, each a little dream of sunshine.
Ballet and the Roman Spirit
This is the first day of the "Rome Opera Ballet" festival, which means my little ballet-loving heart is about to burst with joy. Tonight's the big night for Giselle, and Francesca has promised me the best seats - front row, swoon. I'm already dreaming about those breathtaking leaps and swirling pirouettes, those beautiful costumes and the magical world that comes to life with each delicate move!
Francesca has told me there are ballet performances throughout Rome right now - and guess what? It's inspiring all kinds of ballet-street-style looks, from tutu-like frills, tulle skirts and sleek ballet flats to everything in between! So prepare to be showered with even more fashion inspiration. You know I always get swept away by those creative energy vibes of Rome!
And it’s not just about the "formal" ballet. This city is full of vibrant energy and passionate dancers who are passionate about street performances! Imagine, a beautiful fountain, the scent of Italian coffee brewing in the cafes surrounding it, and a group of dancers making the city dance right along with them. It's moments like these that remind me how amazing the world of dance truly is, and I'm determined to capture all of it on pink-tutu.com.
My "pink tutu" Mission
Rome already has its charm - but there's no such thing as too much pink, right? Today, I'm going on a mission. Imagine the fun - finding the perfect shade of pink for every iconic location in the Eternal City! My new pink beret - a must-have on my Italian shopping list - will help! My readers love this kind of fun, fashion adventure and my readers know that pink tutus are truly magical. Maybe we'll all end up doing a flash mob at the Colosseum – wearing pink tutus, of course! The pink power will truly empower you - the more the merrier!
Follow the Pink!
That's all for today, but I'll be posting about my "Giselle" experience on Friday and adding tons of pics throughout the week on Instagram.
Remember, follow along for all my adventures in pink and join me in spreading the pink tutu love!
Ciao for now, darlings!
Emma
