Pink Tutu Rome #701: A Week in the Eternal City! 🩰🇮🇹

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your Pink Tutu Queen, reporting live from the heart of Rome! As you know, this week is all about the wonders of the Eternal City. Let me tell you, I'm absolutely smitten. There's just something about the cobbled streets, the vibrant history, the delicious food, and of course, the dazzling fashion.

This week has been a whirlwind of pink, sparkles, and… well, tutus, obviously! As you can imagine, my mission to convert the world to pink tutus is in full swing. Rome is the perfect playground for a tutu enthusiast!

Now, I’m just going to quickly recap last week’s fun… we started our Italian escapade with a train journey from beautiful Derbyshire (home to my gorgeous family). I even squeezed in a cheeky performance at the station in Chesterfield, to raise some funds for my Roman adventures. Who knew a little bit of pirouette could fund a whole trip?

Now, where was I… Ah, yes, Rome! The first thing that hit me was the sheer energy of the city. Every street is buzzing, there's laughter in the air, and the energy is absolutely infectious! Of course, one can’t resist a spot of shopping after such an adventure – the shopping streets are bursting with colour and inspiration. I snagged myself a fab new pair of rose-gold stilettos, which, of course, looked incredible with my classic pink tutu, complete with a sprinkle of gold glitter!

Speaking of glitter, it's amazing to see all the glitz and glam of Rome – the beautiful churches, the ancient architecture, even the little cafe windows – they're all a sight to behold. You wouldn't believe the fashion! Seriously, this city is an explosion of colour and flair – a true tutu enthusiast’s dream! I’ve spotted some stunning Italian beauties in full-on pink!

This week’s highlight was definitely the ballet at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma! The opera house itself is breathtaking – all grandeur and marble. The performance was just divine, I found myself spellbound by the beautiful dancers’ stories and graceful movements. The performance truly transported me to a different realm of magic. It was almost as if I could be back in my Derbyshire ballet school, but surrounded by Italian opulence!

Oh, and I can’t forget the food! From the delicious gelato with a side of cappuccino, to the divine pizza – even a healthy tutu-loving girl like myself can’t resist the culinary delights of Italy.

And now for my daily must-dos for the discerning tutu-loving traveller…

Emma's Roman Itinerary for the Tutu Enthusiast:

Day 1: The Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, & the Pink Tutus!

Let’s start the day right with a visit to the awe-inspiring Pantheon! It’s a true architectural masterpiece, all history and majesty. From there, stroll down to the Trevi Fountain and make a wish. I wished for a million tutus – we can all dream, can’t we? In the afternoon, take a leisurely stroll through the romantic Campo de’ Fiori. And be sure to browse the local market for souvenirs and delicious treats. And, oh, be sure to pick up the most gorgeous pair of pink ballerina shoes! And finally, indulge in a magical gelato, I always choose a pink flavour. The sweetness really gets your creativity flowing.

Day 2: Colosseum & Roman Forum: A Ballet Adventure

Okay, you've heard of gladiators, now it’s time for ballet gladiators. Take a tour through the grandeur of the Colosseum. And get ready for a little performance, the Colosseum is the perfect place for a pirouette under the Roman sky! Later, soak up some culture in the Roman Forum. This historic marvel makes you feel like you’ve stepped into the pages of history, with all its ruins and mystery.

Day 3: The Borghese Gallery, Galleria Doria Pamphilj, & the Vatican Museums

The Borghese Gallery houses incredible Renaissance masterpieces. Prepare to be swept away by art's magnificence and intricate detail. A quick tutu twirl here is simply essential. Next, head to Galleria Doria Pamphilj, which is housed within a breathtaking baroque palace – I’d wear a tutu with sequins to fit right in. And of course, a visit to the Vatican Museums, with its famous Sistine Chapel ceiling is a must! It’s an incredibly impressive art experience – one that inspires awe and admiration for all, tutus and all!

Day 4: Shopping Therapy at the Shops, Shopping, Shopping, and… more Shopping!

Yes, today’s all about fashion! There's something for everyone here, even a tutu-loving queen like me. Head down to Via Condotti, one of Rome’s most famous shopping streets – it’s lined with fabulous designer boutiques and I’m determined to find a gorgeous new pink accessory to add to my collection.

Day 5: Day trip to the Beaches, Tuscany… Oh and Tutus of course!

Time to escape the hustle and bustle and head out to the beach. And, I can’t forget about the perfect attire - it has to be my beautiful seaside tutu in the shade of blush pink – for a true princess's seaside experience. But not before I add a few beach essentials, like a floppy hat, a stunning white sun dress and a large, fashionable tote bag, in a vibrant colour of course! I need to ensure the colour pink is in abundance even at the beach! And now we're on our way to Tuscany – a true cultural treasure! We’ll have so much fun strolling through the beautiful landscapes and exploring hidden gem wineries and cafes! It’ll be a day filled with stunning Italian wine, pizza, sunshine, and lots of fabulous memories to boot.

Day 6: Back to Derbyshire… A Pink Farewell

Alas, all good things must come to an end, but that doesn’t mean it’s goodbye, my dearest darlings! Time to head back to my Derbyshire roots! Don't forget to take your new Tutu knowledge with you – we can spread the magic of the pink tutu to every corner of the world!

And remember, whether you’re in Rome, or at home, let’s always embrace the pink tutu spirit – because life’s just a little more fun in a pink tutu, wouldn’t you agree? 🩰💗

Until next week, darlings! Emma x
