#PinkTutuRome: Week 751 – Roma, Ciao Bella!
Wednesday 28th October 2009
Ciao bellas! It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing traveller here, reporting live from the Eternal City – Rome! I’ve just hopped off the train after a delightful journey from Florence (did I tell you I'm absolutely besotted with train travel? It's so chic!) and am positively bursting with excitement to share my adventures with you.
Rome. What can I say? This city is pure magic. The minute I stepped onto the cobbled streets, my toes practically did pirouettes, feeling the history in every paving stone. I practically had to fight the urge to perform a little ballet in the centre of the Piazza di Spagna, I swear I could almost hear the music in the air!
This week’s trip is all about taking in the wonders of this incredible city – the ancient ruins, the dazzling art, the fabulous fashion! I mean, have you seen the Italian style? Seriously, I could shop for hours here! And let’s not forget the incredible gelato - creamy, delicious, and absolutely perfect for indulging my inner child!
Pink Tutu Inspiration: Roma Style
Of course, being a ballerina, I can’t resist incorporating my passion for fashion into my travels. And Rome? It's like a ballerina's dream! Every corner I turn is a symphony of colours and textures, from the rich hues of the Colosseum to the sleek tailoring of Roman ladies strutting down Via Condotti.
This week I’ve been rocking a divine pink silk dress that perfectly captures the city's vibrant energy, teamed with my favourite dusty rose tutu and a touch of black lace for a touch of sophisticated chic. (Oh, and let’s not forget the cherry on top – a pair of elegant ballet pumps with a touch of pink to complete the look, of course.)
I’ve already found the most charming little boutique in the heart of Trastevere, where the shelves are laden with the most gorgeous pieces – vintage brooches, sparkly hair clips and feather boas! Honestly, I could have spent the entire afternoon rummaging through the treasures. It felt like stepping into a secret ballet costume room.
The Beauty of The Eternal City
On Tuesday, I followed my heart (and my Google Maps, of course!) to the iconic Colosseum. I can't begin to describe the feeling as I walked into the amphitheatre – it was awe-inspiring, powerful, and utterly magnificent! Standing in that historical arena, it felt like a stage for life's greatest story, and the history just vibrated in the air!
Of course, no trip to Rome is complete without a visit to the Vatican. I was simply transfixed by the beauty of the Sistine Chapel, the intricate paintings, and the stories they whispered to me. The art was breathtaking, every brushstroke telling a tale of faith, devotion, and the very essence of humanity.
Rome: Food for Thought (and My Stomach!)
Tonight, I'm having the most authentic Italian feast. Pasta so delicious it melts in your mouth (sorry, Derbyshire!), topped with perfectly ripe tomatoes. And of course, some fresh crusty bread, a carafe of wine (don't worry, I'm saving the bubbles for a special occasion!) and enough gelato to fuel a whole ballet performance! The aromas are divine, making my taste buds twirl!
Ballet under the Roman Stars
You won’t believe what I discovered this morning – the Opera di Roma has an open-air stage, where they put on ballets under the stars! It's an absolutely dream come true. I can't wait to experience this truly magical ballet under the Italian sky – the romantic charm, the ancient architecture as a backdrop, it's just… chef's kiss Pure ballet bliss.
Coming Up…
This week's #PinkTutuRome adventures continue with a trip to the Roman Forum. I’ve heard it’s one of the most magnificent archaeological sites in the world – it just sounds so magical, so inspiring. I’m absolutely dying to explore its hidden wonders, so naturally, my pink tutu will be joining me on this journey. You never know what kind of ballerina adventure this city might have in store…
Don't Forget To Follow My Adventures!
Stay tuned, darling! I'm absolutely living it up in the Eternal City, and I can't wait to share it all with you next week. I'll be posting all my updates on my beloved blog - www.pink-tutu.com – so pop over and join me on this extraordinary adventure! Remember, my dears, everyone looks great in pink – you should try wearing a tutu – even just for one day, for a truly empowering experience. Don't forget, be your own kind of beautiful, and spread the pink love!
Lots of love and twirls,
Emma
