Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2010-02-17 – A Fairytale in the Eternal City (Post #767)

Ciao Bella! It's Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-wearing, travel-loving ballerina, writing to you live from the magical city of Rome. It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another dose of Pink Tutu Rome!

The Pink Tutu Way: From Derbyshire to the Heart of Italy

As many of you know, my passion for dance and travel is unyielding. This week, I swapped the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the bustling streets of Rome, and let me tell you, the train journey was an adventure in itself! I settled into my seat, pink tutu, of course, in tow, surrounded by curious glances. But let's face it, a bit of pink tutu in your life never hurt anyone, right?

Rome welcomed me with open arms (and a delicious scent of fresh bread – oh my!) I hopped off the train feeling refreshed and ready to explore this incredible city. As soon as I arrived at my hotel, I unpacked my ballerina bag and popped on my favourite pink tulle skirt (gotta have a backup, just in case).

Exploring the Eternal City – Pink Tutu Style

Day one in Rome started with a wander through the charming, cobblestone streets near my hotel. It's a beautiful mixture of old and new, with pastel-colored buildings, bustling cafes, and ancient ruins peeking around every corner. The sun was shining, birds were singing, and I felt like I had stepped into a fairytale. I felt so inspired!

One of my favourite things about travel is experiencing new cultures and traditions, and Italy is renowned for its exquisite fashion. I simply couldn't resist a little shopping spree. I found a darling little boutique tucked away in a narrow alleyway and, of course, I couldn't leave without a new addition to my pink tutu wardrobe. This time it was a vibrant silk scarf, adorned with intricate floral embroidery – perfect for adding a touch of romantic elegance to any pink tutu ensemble.

In the afternoon, I visited the Colosseum. It was mind-blowing to stand before such an ancient and imposing structure. I could almost imagine the gladiators battling and the crowd roaring with excitement. It felt like a real-life scene from a movie, and the history was truly tangible.

I finished the day by treating myself to a delicious, traditional Italian meal. I devoured a plate of creamy carbonara and fresh focaccia – absolute bliss! It's no surprise that Rome is famous for its food! The fresh ingredients and the passion that goes into every dish is just phenomenal.

Dance! Dance! Dance! Roman Ballet

The best part of my Wednesday in Rome, though? Well, you already know! I couldn't visit this fabulous city without taking in a ballet performance, could I? Tonight's performance was at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. They were putting on "Giselle", a beautiful romantic ballet with a story that really moved me. I love how the graceful movements of the dancers tell a story through music and motion.

Even though the choreography was a bit different to what I’m used to, it’s still so much fun to experience ballet in a different cultural context. I found myself being swept away by the magic of the performance. Afterwards, I was giddy with inspiration, I was ready to go home and practice!

Pink Tutu, Pink Everywhere!

I must admit, the other people at the ballet seemed slightly bemused by my bright pink tutu, but that didn't stop me. It’s my way, right? I've come to realize that a bit of pink in any situation brightens everyone’s day. Besides, there are plenty of fashionistas here who like a little splash of color – especially in a city this fabulous!

The Pink Tutu Rome Dream

I feel like this is only the beginning of my Roman adventure! There's so much more to see and experience in this beautiful city. The Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and all those gorgeous churches are waiting for me. Not to mention more yummy food and even more incredible shops for pink tutu goodies. I can already imagine the gorgeous photographs that are going to come out of this!

Speaking of which, be sure to follow me on Instagram at @PinkTutuEmma! I'm constantly sharing updates, photos, and stories from my travels. It’s a fantastic way to stay in touch with my lovely pink-tutu-loving readers, all across the world! I can't wait to share my journey with you – it’s going to be magical, I just know it!

* Until next week, remember to stay pink, stay positive, and always, always embrace the beauty of ballet!*

Emma, signing off from Rome!
