Pink Tutu Rome: #768 - Ciao Bella!
Wednesday, February 24th, 2010
Buongiorno, miei cari! (That's 'Good morning, my dears' in Italian, just in case you didn't know!) It's a beautiful crisp morning in Rome, the sun is shining and the air is crisp and cool. My pink tutu, a delightful shade of candy floss, is whirling merrily around my legs as I sip my morning espresso, soaking up the sights and sounds of this stunning city. This week, dear readers, we're in the Eternal City, and what a city it is!
I arrived yesterday afternoon after a delightful train journey through the heart of Italy. I love the feeling of hurtling through the countryside, watching the landscapes transform from fields of sunflowers to rolling hills, vineyards, and the occasional sleepy village. It feels so glamorous, and, let's be honest, incredibly romantic!
As you know, dear followers, I have a penchant for the theatrical. So, naturally, I’m absolutely head-over-heels for Rome, this place has history seeping from its very foundations. I mean, can you imagine all the incredible characters who have walked these cobbled streets, the countless stories woven through these ancient walls?
Pink Tutus & Fashion:
Now, a pink tutu wouldn't be out of place amongst all this history, you know. In fact, a girl needs to embrace a little whimsy when you're surrounded by such timeless beauty! So, naturally, my luggage is overflowing with my favourite shades of pink - my newest creation, a flowing silk tutu the colour of a strawberry milkshake, is tucked safely within. And of course, I can’t forget my matching ballerina flats with little bows and a fabulous pink knitted beret that I’ll be pairing with it all.
Yesterday, I ventured into the heart of Rome, weaving through bustling piazzas and along the famous Via dei Condotti. Oh, the boutiques! The colours, the textures, the styles! Rome truly is a haven for the fashion-conscious traveller. Imagine my excitement, darlings, as I wandered into the flagship Prada store, their window display featuring stunning evening dresses with a sprinkle of glitz and glamour.
Performances & Cultural Delights
And for my first Roman evening, I opted for a night at the Teatro dell’Opera. An unforgettable experience! My heart danced along with the ballet dancers on stage. This ballet company, my dear friends, was absolutely exquisite! Their precision, their artistry, their passion! They were simply magical, their movement as light and graceful as the fluttering wings of a hummingbird. It was enough to inspire any girl (or boy!) to pirouette through the cobbled streets of Rome.
Speaking of ballet, the main reason for my trip to Rome (besides, you know, the fashion!), is to catch the ballet premiere of “Giselle” tonight. I can't wait to share it all with you in next week's post, so keep an eye on www.pink-tutu.com!
My Journey, My Story
So far, my Rome adventure has been a delightful whirl of excitement, from sipping espresso in cobblestone cafes, enjoying the delectable scent of freshly baked bread drifting through the air, to discovering secret little gardens tucked away in ancient alleyways.
My dream, dear friends, is for everyone to embrace the joy of a pink tutu, to feel the freedom and happiness it brings. Just as the Italian sunshine illuminates this enchanting city, may your spirit shine bright, too.
Remember, every day is a new opportunity to add a splash of colour and magic to your life. Just don't forget your pink tutu!
Until next week, dear friends, embrace life, dance with passion, and stay radiant!
Bisous, Emma
