Pink Tutu Rome: Post 778 - A Whirlwind of Pink in the Eternal City!

Ciao bella! It's Emma here, your pink-loving, tutu-wearing guide to the fabulous world of travel! I'm so thrilled to be back in my virtual pink paradise and sharing my adventures with you all. This week, I'm coming to you straight from the heart of Rome, a city that's bursting with history, culture, and a certain je ne sais quoi that I just can't resist.

Remember how I was telling you all about my upcoming Italian escapade last week? Well, I'm happy to report that it was even more dazzling than I ever imagined! The journey, of course, started with my trusty train ticket and a pink-tutu-tastic outfit - a hot pink chiffon dress paired with a flowing tulle skirt (yes, even the trains of Europe need a touch of tulle magic!) and a bejewelled tiara to add that extra bit of sparkle. Arriving in Rome was a real fairytale. It's like stepping into a living history book - ancient ruins intertwined with stylish boutiques and a vibrant atmosphere.

Wednesday in Rome: An Aperitivo in the Piazza

Rome is one of those places that practically demands to be explored on foot, and after dropping my luggage off at a quaint hotel (naturally pink and floral!), I set off for a leisurely stroll. My first stop was the Colosseum, a truly majestic feat of architecture that sends shivers down your spine with its sheer grandeur. Imagine the gladiator battles that took place here - it's truly awe-inspiring. Afterwards, I grabbed a gelato from a charming little shop near the Trevi Fountain. It was a perfect pit stop, with delicious hazelnut and strawberry flavours that melted in my mouth. Who needs an espresso with a view like that?

Dress Like a Diva, Shop Like a Star!

For dinner, I dined at a cute little trattoria tucked away in a charming piazza. The atmosphere was enchanting with locals chattering, strings of fairy lights twinkling, and the scent of delicious food in the air. It felt like a scene straight out of a movie, except the main character was definitely me, wearing a gorgeous scarlet dress that screamed Italian romance (with a sprinkle of pink, naturally). I think even the pigeons thought I looked fabulous.

Rome, though, is not just about history and picturesque scenes. It's a haven for fashionistas too. That's why, on my second day in the city, I found myself lost in a maze of luxury shops. It was an absolute dream, surrounded by designer labels and shimmering accessories. It was impossible to resist a few treats, especially a divine pair of fuchsia-hued sandals and a coral-toned handbag with intricate floral embroidery. They perfectly embodied the "dolce vita" spirit, which, let's face it, is kind of the ultimate style goal, right?

Finding a Slice of Rome Through the Ballet

Speaking of goals, I always try to weave some ballet magic into my travel adventures. Now, I couldn't visit Rome without taking in a show at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. And oh, my darling! The performance was spectacular. The dancers were unbelievably talented, executing intricate steps and expressing emotions with such finesse. The sheer energy of the stage was palpable, it filled me with such a deep appreciation for the artistry of this beautiful form.

It’s actually quite amusing, you know. I always end up finding people who love ballet. I don’t think I’ve ever met someone who disliked it. Perhaps it’s the universal language of the body, perhaps it’s the pure magic that makes even the mundane seem otherworldly.

Onwards and Upwards to My Next Pink Paradise

Now, I know I haven't yet spoken about my fellow tutufarians - the inspiring people who, like me, believe that every occasion is a celebration for pink tutus. I have met so many in Rome, with tutus appearing in all sorts of delightful contexts - a tutu-clad street performer serenading tourists on a busy piazza, a group of tutu-wearing children playing games in a beautiful park, even a flamboyant, elderly gentleman rocking a pink tutu at the opera. And as always, I always manage to make a new tutu friend, someone who makes me realise that life’s too short to be anything other than your most fabulous self!

But don’t think this is the end of my Italian adventures! There’s so much more of Italy to explore, more exquisite outfits to try on, more cultural marvels to see and, most importantly, more people to inspire with the joy of tutus!

Stay tuned, because next week, I’ll be taking you with me on a delicious culinary tour, and I’m definitely packing a pink tulle skirt for the occasion… You know I love a bit of pink even when it’s spaghetti night! See you then, my loves!

Love, Emma xx
