Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2010-09-08 - Ciao Bella!
Bonjour from the Eternal City! ๐ฎ๐น It's Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-wearing ballerina, and I'm so thrilled to be in Rome for the next week, exploring the history, the culture, and most importantly, the fashion! ๐
This is my seventh visit to Rome, and every time, I fall more in love. I always say that Rome has a magic about it, a certain joie de vivre thatโs just impossible to resist.
And what better way to start my Rome adventures than a train ride from Derbyshire, England? ๐ I absolutely adore train travel! I had the most gorgeous carriage all to myself, and the views were spectacular, just like a ballet in motion. (Just imagine the scenery swirling past as a conductor announces the next stop!)
Now, you might be thinking, "Emma, Rome in September? You'll be roasting!" But actually, the weather has been perfect! A touch of sun, a hint of breeze, and that soft, golden light that's perfect for twirling. Speaking of twirling, let's talk outfits! ๐
I've got my trusty pink tutu packed, of course, and Iโve paired it with some lovely light fabrics: silks, chiffons, and lace. It's the perfect combo for a graceful promenade through the city. You see, a pink tutu isn't just about fashion for me; it's about feeling joyful and expressing yourself! I think the Italians are catching on, too, as Iโve already spotted several pink-tutu-clad ladies out and about. (Fingers crossed my pink tutu mission is gaining momentum!)
But this week isn't all about tutus, darling. Today, I'm off to see "Romeo and Juliet" at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! Yes, a classical ballet โ how could I resist? It's sure to be an enchanting evening, full of passionate dance, and the beauty of opera. I'm even wearing my lucky pink ballet shoes - can't tell you the name of the brand, it's my little secret. (Sorry to leave you hanging there, my loves!) I might even snag a selfie with one of the dancers! ๐ฉฐ
As much as I adore a good ballet performance, you know I also love some shopping, darling. My day will be ending with a browse around the shops of Via Condotti in the centre of Rome. You just never know what treasures you'll unearth. This is the shopping street of dreams! With its famous boutiques and charming cafes, you can feel the energy buzzing, the thrill of discovery.
Speaking of thrills, this city never ceases to amaze me. Even though I've visited before, Iโm so excited to soak up the sights and smells: the ancient architecture of the Roman Forum, the timeless beauty of the Pantheon, the iconic Colosseum. You know I'll be posting photos throughout my trip - stay tuned!
And then, of course, there are the gelato shops. ๐ฆ I've already discovered a place near my hotel with the most delicious hazelnut gelato โ absolutely heavenly! (Maybe not the best food choice for a ballerina, but I can't help it!)
But my lovelies, you'll have to wait for those gelato photos - I need to start getting ready for my big ballet night out! And I haven't even decided what to wear, which is always a little panic-inducing for a ballerina who lives by a code of colours (it's always pink, don't you know? ๐).
Stay tuned for next week's post! Iโm planning on visiting the Trevi Fountain and throwing a coin over my shoulder - making a wish, naturally! Maybe even for a special tutu from the shops here - although you'd be hard-pressed to find one thatโs quite as pink as mine, darling! ๐
