Pink Tutu Rome: #798 – La Dolce Vita in a Tutu

Ciao, darlings! Emma here, bringing you a blast of pink from the Eternal City! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for my weekly Roman rendezvous – and trust me, it's been a whirlwind. Buckle up your pink tutus, because today's adventure is packed with a whole heap of la dolce vita!

You guys know I can't resist a train journey, and the Eurostar to Paris was like stepping into a couture catalogue. All those impeccably-dressed Parisians – I half expected to spot Karl Lagerfeld dashing for his seat! After a short flight to Rome (a pink tulle dress is practically designed for air travel!), I arrived at my little charming guesthouse tucked away in the heart of Trastevere. A quaint courtyard bathed in sunlight with bougainvillea climbing up the walls, what's not to love?!

First things first, you know I always need to get my ballet fix, so I'm taking a class at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! It's an incredible place, steeped in history, the most stunning, elegant, graceful building – it even has an opera house! As if that wasn't exciting enough, I'm seeing "La Traviata" this evening! Talk about dreaming in pink!

Of course, no visit to Rome is complete without a trip to the Trevi Fountain – I'm telling you, seeing it in real life is so much more majestic than any picture can convey. And I may have chucked a coin in, and posed for a photoshoot in my pink tutu, to ensure a return trip!

This city is a shopping haven – from the luxury designer stores around Via Condotti to the charming artisan shops in Trastevere, every corner whispers to the fashionista in me. I even found a gorgeous, vintage pink handbag at a quirky vintage store, with a perfect little detail: a tiny ballerina figurine perched on the handle. Oh, my heart!

After my pranzo at a cozy little Trattoria in Trastevere, I wandered into a beautiful Giardino degli Aranci – a park overflowing with citrus trees! I found a sun-drenched spot on a bench and took a moment to soak it all in. I think you have to get in touch with nature occasionally when you're surrounded by all this magnificence, don't you?

Evening found me back at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. β€œLa Traviata” was pure magic, the orchestra was stunning and the singing so moving it brought tears to my eyes. The drama, the passion, the story – it was all woven together in the most beautiful way.

As I wander through the streets, illuminated by warm streetlights and buzzing with life, it dawns on me - Rome isn't just about grand history and artistic masterpieces. It's also about little moments – the laughter in a busy piazza, the aroma of fresh pasta wafting from a trattoria, the warmth of the sun on your skin. It’s about taking the time to enjoy life, just like you would at a beautiful ballet performance, all those feelings come flooding in: beauty, grace, a love of art and storytelling, all brought together to inspire you.

Until next time, darlings! Don't forget to check back next Wednesday for more pink tutu adventures from my fabulous Roman escapades!

Yours always,

Emma
