Pink Tutu Rome: Week 799 - Ciao Bella!
Ciao darlings!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome blog post, and guess what? I'm still in Italy! The cobblestone streets, the delicious food, the warm sunshine... it's simply enchanting!
I know, I know, some of you are wondering why I'm here. It's all thanks to the wonderful opportunity to perform in a couple of ballet shows at the Teatro Argentina in Rome. I was so thrilled when I got the invitation. The Teatro Argentina is such a prestigious venue, steeped in history. It's a ballerina's dream!
But, before I get ahead of myself and tell you all about the shows, I have to tell you about the journey itself. Remember how I said I love train travel? Well, this journey from Derbyshire, England to Rome was no exception. The train journey was a dream. We zoomed through the countryside, the landscape changing from lush green fields to snow-capped mountain peaks. I even managed to squeeze in a couple of ballet practices on the train, with my trusty portable barre!
Finding the Perfect Pink TutuOf course, no trip to Italy is complete without some fabulous shopping! Luckily, Rome has everything a fashionista's heart could desire. On my first day, I took a trip to the beautiful Trastevere district. Imagine narrow cobblestone streets lined with charming boutiques, bustling with life. I just adore the atmosphere! It’s the perfect setting for a pink tutu enthusiast like me, trust me. I found this absolutely adorable pink tutu, adorned with little delicate flowers – oh, I couldn’t resist! It was love at first sight, and I knew it was coming home with me.
As a bit of fun, I popped on the tutu with a pretty summery dress, grabbed a cappuccino and strolled around Trastevere like a whimsical fairy princess. You know me, I can't resist a photo opportunity! I took some cute snaps by the Trevi Fountain (just like a tourist, right?!), which I know will look absolutely amazing on Instagram.
Rome's Fashion GemsOf course, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Rome post without talking about the exquisite fashion I encountered. On my way to the Trevi Fountain, I spotted a woman sporting the most stylish leather jacket. I couldn't help but stop and admire it. The design was impeccable, and the way she paired it with a flowing skirt... simply breathtaking! It made me yearn for a similar jacket - I think a bold pink leather jacket could be just the thing for my upcoming performances.
That brings me to the Teatro Argentina! You just wait until you see the incredible architecture! Imagine: majestic arched ceilings, intricate gilded details, and a stage that radiates with magic. It's everything I imagined and more. The first performance was a ballet set in the Tuscan countryside, and my heart just about burst! The costumes were dazzling, the music enchanting, and the dancers incredibly talented. It was simply breathtaking, and I felt so honoured to be part of it.
Indulging in Italian DelightsOf course, you can't talk about Rome without mentioning the food. Let me tell you, my tastebuds have been having an absolute blast! I tried all sorts of pasta dishes - Carbonara, Fettuccini Alfredo, Gnocchi... it's pure heaven. And the gelato! Forget your regular boring ice cream; the gelato in Rome is in a league of its own. Every flavour you can imagine and more, it’s divine.
But even with all the food and shopping, I'm making sure I don’t miss out on seeing all the incredible sights. So far, I’ve already climbed the Spanish Steps, walked along the ancient walls, and soaked up the sun in Piazza Navona.
Speaking of Piazza Navona, there was this amazing street performance last night! The artist used coloured powders to create incredibly intricate patterns on the pavement - truly breathtaking. There was also a couple doing a ballroom dance in the middle of the square! I don't think I stopped smiling the whole time.
I love the vibrancy and beauty of Rome. The cobbled streets, the ancient buildings, the laughter and chatter filling the air... it's a symphony of colours, aromas and emotions.
Ballet Dreams in RomeSo, with the upcoming performances and my exploration of this beautiful city, it looks like I'll be busy for the next few weeks! But of course, I'll keep you updated with every pink tutu-wearing adventure. I'm sure there will be many more fashion finds, delectable culinary treats, and magical moments to share with you.
And, just for fun, try and spot me wearing my new pink tutu around Rome. You might just catch a glimpse of the Pink Tutu Ballerina herself!
Until next Wednesday, keep twirling!
Yours truly,
Emma xx
