Pink Tutu Rome: #803 - La Dolce Vita in a Pink Tutu!

Buongiorno bella! It’s Emma here, back from the Eternal City, Rome! And oh my, I have SO much to tell you about!

This week's adventures began in Derbyshire, England, where I bid farewell to my darling family and furry friends. Train journeys are truly my happy place – the rhythmic clackety-clack of the rails against the track, the views whizzing by, the cosy air in a carriage filled with travellers from all walks of life. I always manage to sneak in some ballet practice during those long journeys too - a couple of jetés, some fouetté practice, and a few stretches. Nothing like a bit of twirling to banish travel fatigue!

As the Italian sunbeams kissed my cheeks, Rome welcomed me with open arms - a cacophony of buzzing motorbikes, gelato stalls, and the intoxicating scent of freshly baked bread. It felt like I was stepping into a timeless film – La Dolce Vita was in full bloom, and I, in my pinkest tutu, was ready to be a part of it all!

Wednesday, October 27th – what a day! It kicked off with an exquisite visit to the Galleria Borghese. I practically gasped in awe at the sculptures of Bernini. Did you know his 'Apollo and Daphne' is just as captivating as you’ve heard?! The sheer beauty of it was simply breathtaking. And then, there were the paintings – the Caravaggios! Their masterful use of light and shadow was truly mesmerising, and they completely captivated me. A quick stroll through the park with its fountains and ancient sculptures, and then it was off to find the perfect spot for some Pink Tutu Photoshoot magic! The Borghese Gallery's manicured gardens provided a dreamy backdrop, the vibrant pink of my tulle a playful contrast against the vibrant greenery and cascading blooms.

Next on the itinerary was the majestic Trevi Fountain. Ah, the grandeur of it! Imagine, it wasn't even intended as a fountain when the architect was commissioned. He had a stroke, the patron had a change of heart, and so the Roman people ended up with a marvel, and now I, too, can add my coin to its wishing pool. I've got to confess, as I stood there, feeling the water cascading over the baroque sculpted rocks, it truly felt like a scene straight out of a ballet!

Later that evening, Rome treated me to a beautiful opera performance at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. The building itself is a testament to architectural artistry - and that opera! My oh my! Such a symphony of emotions. Every note, every crescendo, the performers' passionate delivery - all woven together to create a magic carpet ride through a story of love and drama, heartbreak and hope. It was pure, unadulterated, joy!

Rome, you stole my heart with your charm, your history, and your beauty. This city vibrates with life – a place where fashion flows in the streets, history echoes from every cobblestone, and every delicious meal feels like a celebration of life. It's been a whirlwind week - one that's already etching itself permanently into the pages of my pink-tutu filled memory book.

See you next week, dear readers, as I continue to explore this dazzling city! Until then, twirl on, wear pink, and remember - the world needs more tutu love!
