Pink Tutu Rome: #808 - Rome Sweet Rome!

Wednesday, 1st December 2010

Hello my lovely darlings! Welcome back to my Rome blog! This week we are exploring the eternal city itself - its sights, its sounds, its fashion… and, of course, its tutus! Yes, you read that right - my Rome tutu adventure continues!

Train travel… my favourite way to get around!

Arriving in Rome by train was truly magical. I love the sense of anticipation as the train hurtles towards my destination. Watching the world flash by – especially in Italy, with its beautiful countryside - just makes my heart soar. The station was bustling with people, all going about their daily lives. I even spotted a couple of girls with pink tutus (well, maybe it was just me that spotted them… my eyes just zoom straight to tutus)!

First Impressions… oh my darling!

Stepping out of the station, the sights, sounds and smells of Rome enveloped me. I just stood there, gaping like a tourist. Everything seemed to sparkle. The sunshine was warm, even in December, and the cobblestone streets seemed to radiate warmth. There was an air of history and grandeur. Oh, my, oh, my, it’s all a bit too much to handle! I felt a little bit overwhelmed by its charm. And then… I saw my first pizza. Sigh. I already knew this city was going to be special.

My Rome uniform – chic and oh-so-comfortable!

For this trip, I've gone for a slightly different look. Instead of the full ballerina pink tutu, I've gone for something more understated – a pretty blush pink knee-length skirt with an elegant ivory blouse, a touch of sparkly pink jewellery, and of course, my trusty, stylish pink ballet pumps. The Italians have an eye for style, so I want to make sure my outfit reflects their sartorial flair. But a little bit of pink? It's absolutely essential!

Shopping… oh the shopping!

I love me a good fashion hunt. And let's be honest - Rome is a fashionista's paradise! The city is just oozing with fashion inspiration! My first stop? A little independent shop I discovered near my hotel. The shop was packed with the most beautiful fabrics, from silk and velvet to luxurious lace. I found myself fantasising about the tutus I could create using those amazing materials! You just can't find those kinds of textures and colors anywhere else.

Ciao bella… meeting the local ladies

As a ballet girl, I'm always drawn to grace and elegance, and the local women of Rome definitely have that. From the beautiful ladies I saw browsing the shops to the stylish baristas, they were all effortlessly elegant in their own way. Every little detail felt well thought out and the Italian sense of style is something I truly admire.

Dancing into the Night!

To top off the first day, I treated myself to a delightful evening at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. This historic venue was everything I imagined: luxurious, opulent, and a treasure trove of history. The ballet performance was simply breath-taking - graceful, beautiful, and emotional. It reminded me why I love the dance so much. You really feel it, you know? You don't just watch, you become part of it.

Feeling inspired... tutus everywhere!

As I stood there, surrounded by the sheer beauty of the dance and the atmosphere of the opera house, I had a feeling. I wanted to create something special – a tutu that truly captured the essence of Rome. A tutu with a touch of historical flair and a burst of bright Italian sunshine. It has to be bright pink, with intricate details - maybe even with a touch of delicate, embroidered floral motifs… Maybe even a tiny golden Roman coin as a little accessory.

Tomorrow... More Roman Adventures!

Tomorrow's a new day, full of Roman adventures. I've got a whole list of places I want to see – the Colosseum, the Pantheon, and the Trevi Fountain! Who knows what treasures await me? And, of course, the quest continues... to find the most beautiful tutu shop in the whole city of Rome!

Stay tuned for more updates on my Roman adventure - there are many more "Pink Tutu Rome" posts to come.

Sending love and pink tutu wishes!

Emma
