Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella!

#PinkTutuRome #824 Wednesday 2011-03-23

Buongiorno, darling readers! The sun is shining on a picture-perfect Roman morning, and this tutu-loving ballerina is absolutely buzzing with excitement! You see, this is a special Wednesday because… well… it’s the first day of my Rome adventure!

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Rome. Tutu? How do those two even go together? Trust me, my dears, it’s going to be an absolute triumph! I’ve always had a weakness for grand, romantic settings, and Rome’s streets, with their ancient cobblestones and majestic buildings, are positively begging to be twirled in. So, naturally, the Pink Tutu will be making an appearance, and if it’s good enough for the Trevi Fountain, it’s certainly good enough for me!

Speaking of grand entrances, let me tell you all about how I got here. I truly believe travelling by train is the only way to get a proper feel for a country. And this journey, my lovelies, has been utterly divine. We chugged through the charming French countryside, stopping at little picturesque villages with flower boxes bursting with vibrant blooms. I can't help but feel the romance in the air with every clickety-clack of the train wheels, and as I watch the countryside whizzing by, a feeling of excitement and possibility swells within me.

But don't you worry, darling, even when I'm on the go, I never forget my fashion. Let's just say my latest vintage pink cardigan made a fabulous travelling companion! I simply cannot resist a good Parisian flea market, and on this trip, I was rewarded with a true beauty – a feather boa that just screams Rome. Think bold, bright fuchsia with hints of emerald green, perfectly accentuating the soft blush pink of my new favourite tutu. It’s the ultimate Parisian chic, and it practically dances itself onto the train.

I'll admit, Rome’s been beckoning me for ages! This city, a melting pot of art, culture, and breathtaking beauty, is simply irresistible. Ever since my first ballet lesson as a wee lass (dressed in a rather impractical but oh-so-adorable pink tulle tutu, naturally), I've dreamt of the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain. So much history, romance, and sheer magic! And you bet your bottom dollar that a Pink Tutu adventure wouldn't be complete without a ballet performance or two. This week I’m off to see "The Nutcracker" at the Teatro dell’Opera. I simply adore the music and the artistry of Tchaikovsky’s magical world. I can already picture the shimmering costumes and dazzling sets against the backdrop of the opulent theatre. What could be more divine?

And let’s not forget the food! The scent of freshly baked bread and simmering pasta sauce drifting through the narrow cobbled streets – it's intoxicating. I've already scoped out the best gelato spots (vanilla with a sprinkle of pink pistachio, of course!) and I’ve got my eye on some truly divine designer Italian shoes… (but that’s another blog post entirely!).

Rome has captured my heart, and my camera lens, darling! From the grand, historic Piazza Navona to the intricate artwork on the walls of the Vatican Museums, there’s a photo opportunity around every corner. Just wait until you see the pictures of the Roman Forum bathed in the warm evening glow… simply breathtaking! But enough about me, what’s on your schedule today? Don’t be shy to share your plans in the comments.

Before I go, I must leave you with some exciting news: this weekend I’m indulging in the ultimate girly treat – a luxurious afternoon tea at one of Rome's most elegant hotels. Think delicate finger sandwiches, miniature cakes, and lashings of hot tea – a truly enchanting way to celebrate this magnificent city. Stay tuned for my photos!

Don't forget to check back next Wednesday for more exciting updates from the Pink Tutu in Rome! And don’t be afraid to join in the conversation, darling! I adore hearing from all my lovely readers, sharing fashion tips, and dreaming about pink tutus together! Remember, if you’re feeling bold, join me in rocking your own pink tutu and embrace your inner ballerina! The world needs more pink! Until next week, darlings, arrivederci!

P.S. A reminder, dear readers: I fund my travel adventures through my ballet performances! Check out the tour dates on my website – your support means the world, darling!

Love,

Emma
