Hello my lovely tutu-loving friends!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome post! This week, I'm swapping the chilly Derbyshire air for the sun-soaked streets of Rome, and let me tell you, this city is simply divine!
The Train to Rome
The journey down here was pure bliss. I always love the train, and this one was no exception. The scenery was just beautiful - rolling hills, ancient vineyards, and those stunning views of the Tuscan countryside that you always see in the movies. My fellow passengers were friendly, and the sound of the train wheels clicking along the tracks somehow always calms me down and fills me with a sense of adventure.
Roman Adventures, Pink Tutu Style
After checking into my little hotel near the Trevi Fountain (which is as magical as it looks!), I threw on my newest tutu (a beautiful baby pink with little gold sequins) and headed straight into the heart of Rome.
Firstly, a must-do in any Roman adventure, is a walk around the Colosseum. This ancient wonder is absolutely breathtaking. Just imagine the gladiatorial battles and chariot races that took place right there centuries ago!
Afterwards, I decided to wander over to the Pantheon - a beautifully preserved temple dedicated to all the gods. The dome is stunning, and I had to stop and gaze up at it for a moment, lost in its grandeur.
Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without a visit to the Vatican. The Vatican Museums are an absolute treasure trove of art and history. You could spend days exploring all the intricate sculptures, paintings, and religious relics.
Delicious Dining Delights
Dinner was a real treat - I opted for a delightful outdoor terrace restaurant, enjoying a hearty portion of pasta alla carbonara (heavenly!) It was all served under twinkling fairy lights, making it truly magical. I felt like I was starring in my own romantic Italian movie!
Fashion Finds in the Eternal City
Before calling it a night, I wandered through the vibrant streets near my hotel. The shops here are truly unique and full of amazing treasures. I managed to snag a stunning floral print dress, a pair of gorgeous cherry red heels and, of course, some delicious, creamy gelato (all strawberry, naturally!).
Ballet Under the Italian Sky
Today - I'm really excited for a performance of "The Sleeping Beauty" at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma! You wouldn't believe it, but it’s not a ballet performance – a modern interpretation! The theatre itself is simply gorgeous, and I can't wait to see the performance, particularly as it's one of my favourite ballets! You bet your tutu I’ll be reporting back on it all for next Wednesday's post.
