Pink Tutu Rome: Post #828 - Ciao Bella! From the Eternal City

Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu adventure! This week, I'm writing to you from the breathtaking, romantic city of Rome, Italy! I'm so excited to share all my Italian experiences with you, and trust me, there's a whole lot of pink to be found here, just like in my heart.

As a little heads up, if you're dreaming of your own Pink Tutu journey to the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain, Rome's actually incredibly budget friendly! It doesn't hurt that I can stretch a little further these days as my dancing career is going from strength to strength. Last month, I even had a solo piece at the Nottingham Ballet Theatre's gala – you should've seen the dress! It was a shimmering sapphire masterpiece, and everyone in Derbyshire said I looked absolutely "dazzling"! The show went so well, in fact, that I was able to take my train ticket straight to the heart of Italy, and you can too! I'm always saying, darling, don't let the pressure of airfares keep you from exploring the world! Remember that train travel is much kinder to the environment. I even got a window seat!

And let's be honest, isn't travelling by train just the most fabulous way to travel? A cup of tea, a good book, and perhaps even a little Pink Tutu-inspired fashion sketch (and a whole lot of inspiration!). It makes me think about all the beautiful ballet performances I've had on the other side of the channel! And speaking of ballet… did you know there's a fantastic opera house here? You're probably thinking "Oh, Emma, of course!", and you're right. It's amazing.

I mean, Rome was built on theatre, opera, dance - the entire essence of artistic expression, it's simply brimming! And while my solo performances have been quite successful in Nottingham, it’s incredible to be here, just a hop skip and jump from some of the best Italian ballet troupes around! Now I just have to squeeze it into my itinerary alongside the Colosseum! This weekend I'm going to catch a show - a full-on Italian opera, of course. Don't you just adore those flamboyant costumes and flowing voices? Just thinking about it is giving me goosebumps! I have to say, however, the biggest fashion highlight so far, was finding the most perfect blush-coloured silk scarf to compliment my blush-pink ballet shoes for my trip! I can't wait to wear them at the opera house!

And to make it even more special, today was such a serendipitous discovery – I found the most enchanting little boutique selling these incredible, feather-light tulle fabrics. Imagine, my dears! I could design and sew my very own Pink Tutu in Rome! Think pink ruffles and shimmering gold beads… Maybe even with a little splash of olive green, like a blooming cherry tree against the vibrant blue skies! This really could be the most romantic Tutu I’ve ever worn!

You see, when I'm travelling, everything turns a little more whimsical. The world is like my very own ballet stage. Rome's piazzas? Like grand stages with cobblestones and ancient architecture! And speaking of stage sets, there is no more spectacular stage than the Colosseum. Oh, to be a dancer standing centre stage with all that ancient glory behind me! This morning I stood, tutu and all, before it's might and imagined it. I closed my eyes and pretended to hear the roaring of the crowd and to smell the sweet perfume of flowers and hot, fresh pastries (and I don’t mean the smell of pizza)! There are more layers to my life, and my imagination, than most think. It doesn’t get much better than exploring Roman architecture in a pink tutu!

You know what I love about travelling? Discovering those hidden gems, the kind that makes a trip so memorable. I'm already putting together a list of local crafts shops. Imagine finding that unique handmade piece - a hand-stitched purse in a soft, dreamy pink or maybe a beaded jewellery piece that matches my new scarf! If I can convince enough of you to come to Italy, we could all look amazing in coordinating Pink Tutus and be our own special ballet company right here! I will have to try harder! This will be such a wonderful addition to my pink tutu wardrobe!

And let's talk about the food, my darlings! From creamy gelato in perfectly sized pink cones, to those melt-in-your-mouth pasta dishes - I swear every bite tastes like a symphony of flavours! I haven't seen so many different flavours since that Italian-themed Ballet recital last spring!

You know, when I was packing for this trip, I worried it was all too much. One tutu, two tutus, three tutus - what would be enough? What a ridiculous thought! Clearly, every wardrobe is perfect for a ballet performance! Especially when you have the Colosseum in your backyard.

So, my dears, join me on this whimsical Pink Tutu adventure in the heart of Rome! You can follow my adventures every Wednesday right here on my website: www.pink-tutu.com .

See you soon for more Pink Tutu Rome shenanigans!

Lots of love and pink kisses,

Emma
