Pink Tutu Rome #842: Ciao Bella! š®š¹
Hello my darlings, it's Wednesday again which means it's time for a little Pink Tutu Rome adventure! I'm writing to you from the heart of Rome, where the sunshine is just as vibrant as my latest pink tutu purchase (more on that later!). It's hard to believe that this time last week I was back in Derbyshire, dreaming of cobbled streets and delicious gelato. But now I'm living the dream, and let me tell you, it's every bit as magical as I imagined.
For those of you who are new here (welcome!), my name is Emma, and I'm a passionate ballerina with a penchant for all things pink and twirly. This blog is my little corner of the internet where I share my travels, my ballet adventures, and of course, my absolute love for tutus! This week, I'm dedicating the blog to the incredible city of Rome. It truly is a fairytale come to life!
This trip wouldn't be possible without my ever-growing collection of tutu-themed ballet performances, the ones I simply adore sharing with all of you. As much as I love touring around the globe in my trusty pink tutu, it's my dedication to my ballet craft that really lets me live these fabulous dreams.
Day 1: Arrival in the Eternal City
I arrived in Rome on Tuesday, after a delightful journey by train from Florence. You know I adore travelling by train ā something about the rhythm of the tracks and the view whizzing past always inspires my creative side. This trip was no different. I couldnāt resist snapping photos of the stunning Italian countryside - lush vineyards, charming villages, and breathtaking mountain views ā perfect inspiration for a new tutu design, donāt you think?
As the train approached Rome, I couldnāt help but get a little giddy. The moment I saw the majestic silhouette of the Colosseum, I knew this was going to be a trip to remember.
Day 2: The Trevi Fountain and Fashion Finds
Waking up in a Roman hotel was such a treat! This morning, I decided to dive straight into exploring the cityās wonders. My first stop? The Trevi Fountain! Thereās a reason itās called the most beautiful fountain in the world. Itās truly majestic. Of course, no visit to Rome is complete without tossing a coin into the fountain for a guaranteed return.
With my lucky coin safely deposited, I went on a fashion-filled journey through the bustling streets, searching for my perfect Rome outfit. I discovered a little gem of a boutique tucked away on a cobbled side street, overflowing with colorful silk fabrics, delicate lace, and vintage jewellery. And who can resist a shop brimming with endless possibilities for creating a new tutu? After an hour spent in a fashion dreamland, I emerged with a beautiful piece of Italian silk in a soft shade of blush pink ā perfect for a special creation.
Day 3: Art & Culture
Rome is not only a beautiful city, itās overflowing with art and culture! Today was dedicated to taking in the wonders of the Vatican City, an experience that truly captivated me. The intricate architecture, the magnificent Sistine Chapel, the vast museums overflowing with Renaissance art - each piece was a stunning display of artistic mastery. The history, the stories behind every stone, the intricate detail - it was just breath-taking.
After the Vatican, I decided to wander through the Trastevere district. I am so grateful I did - the energy of this neighborhood, the artists, musicians, and street performers, truly added to the charm of this incredible city.
Day 4: Gelato & Gladiator Games
Now, no trip to Italy is complete without enjoying the national treat: GELATO! š¦ I found the perfect gelateria in Trastevere, nestled in a cobbled alleyway, and ordered a double scoop of pistachio and strawberry, savouring every lick. My sweet treat was the perfect end to a day exploring the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. The sheer magnitude of the Forum left me awestruck. It's hard to imagine the vibrant life and activity that once flowed through this historic space.
As the sun set over Rome, I decided to enjoy an outdoor show ā gladiators performing a thrilling battle in the amphitheatre at the heart of the ancient Colosseum. Watching these historical figures perform brought the stories of ancient Rome to life! Iām already planning to return in a few weeks to catch their special performance with real swordplay. Canāt wait! āļø
Day 5: La Dolce Vita and A Twirling Symphony
After a morning stroll through the enchanting Borghese Gardens, surrounded by ancient statues and lush greenery, I decided to take a little time to relax and enjoy the delicious La Dolce Vita. A glass of chilled Italian wine with a breathtaking view of the city from a terrace overlooking the Tiber River, was truly a dream come true.
This evening, I'm treating myself to a performance of āLa Traviataā at the Teatro dellāOpera di Roma. It is an absolute dream of mine to witness the sheer artistry of Italian opera within such a prestigious venue.
Day 6: Fashion Fantasies and a Final Farewell
It's been a truly magical journey through the wonders of Rome. I feel like Iāve tasted every flavour of the Italian way of life, experienced every sensation of the eternal city and most importantly, discovered a new appreciation for Italian fashion. This city inspires every sense. It is no surprise I already have a vision for my latest Pink Tutu designs. Just wait until you see what I have planned ā inspired by Romeās ancient history and modern fashion, itās going to be quite spectacular!
But even the best trips come to an end. Tomorrow morning, I will board my train, back to Derbyshire, filled with inspiration for a hundred new posts, new tutus, new dreams! As my last night in this gorgeous city wraps up, Iāll remember these moments, the feeling of history surrounding me and the incredible kindness of everyone Iāve encountered. Thank you, Rome, for welcoming me with open arms and inspiring me with your boundless beauty.
Until next time, my dears, ciao!
