Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 30th November 2011 - Ciao Bella, Rome! 🩰🇮🇹
#860
Oh, darling readers, do you remember when I last visited a foreign city? cue the dreamy music I can still smell the croissants, hear the chatter of cafe society, and feel the soft, worn stones beneath my dancing feet.
And today? I am back on the continent! After an exhilarating train journey (all those pastries at the station were pure magic!), I have landed in the beautiful, ancient, and altogether captivating city of Rome! It's a new city, a new adventure, and I couldn't be more excited to share it all with you.
Just picture it - Rome. A place brimming with history, a whirlwind of cobbled streets, breathtaking art, and even more breathtaking fashion! Every corner whispers tales of emperors and gladiators, artists and lovers, and of course, divine delicacies. My little heart is dancing with excitement!
I've packed my pinkest tutus, my most whimsical ballet flats, and of course, a healthy dose of optimism! Rome, prepare yourself! For I am here, with my signature sparkle, and I intend to infuse this city with the magic of Pink Tutu!
Day 1: First Impressions & Fountain Fantasies
My first impression of Rome was as dramatic as a final curtain call! After hopping off the train, I stepped out into a world that felt as though it were crafted from history books. Think of ancient buildings towering majestically, a symphony of colours echoing on the ancient walls, and an undeniable sense of romance hanging in the air! I knew instantly this was a place that would tug at my heartstrings.
Now, darling readers, let me confess - one of the main reasons for my journey to Italy was the chance to visit Rome's spectacular fountains. You see, there is something so captivating about a graceful water cascade, cascading down with all the elegance of a ballerinas' twirls.
And when I say captivating, I mean truly, utterly captivating! The Fontana di Trevi (oh my, the name itself is a masterpiece!), with its graceful sculptures, the water shimmering in the late afternoon light, was something I could have stood and stared at for hours. But imagine my delight when I saw an impromptu dance performance right beside the fountain! It was magical - think of a swirling, shimmering tableau against the backdrop of this iconic landmark. I truly felt transported back in time. The joy of movement, the graceful gestures, the passion, it was all right there. It was an impromptu ballet performance, born under the watchful eye of the Eternal City itself!
Finding My Way:
One thing I adore about foreign travel is that sense of discovery! Of course, there is the pleasure of map-studying, but also, there is the pure thrill of just getting lost and letting the city guide you.
And guess what? The second I put on my trusty pink tutu (the one with the silk ruffles that are practically begging to be twirled!), I realised that getting lost was simply another way to be found! It was my pink-tutu beacon of adventure! I'm not sure how, but with my tutu, I knew that every step, every corner turned, every accidental detour would lead me to an enchanting little cafe, a charming shop filled with unique treasures, or perhaps even a surprise dance performance by a street artist (which is precisely what happened!).
Dining Delights: Food for the Soul
Darling, there is something special about dining in Rome. Imagine - sitting outside at a trattoria, with the sunlight pouring down, and the aroma of freshly cooked food swirling in the air! It's practically like a ballet for your senses!
Tonight I savored the most delectable pizza ever. The dough, oh, it was light and fluffy! It felt like a tiny, delicious dance in my mouth, and each bite felt like an act of celebration. I can't wait to try more Roman delights over the next few days!
Tomorrow’s Plans: Pink Tutu on the Catwalk
Oh, my darlings! It's not enough to admire Rome's incredible fashion sense, you have to dive in, embrace it! So, I'm embarking on a day of pure sartorial pleasure. We're talking shopping at high-end boutiques, popping into quaint vintage stores (where, I predict, I shall unearth a dazzling pink vintage scarf, perfect for that certain someone in my life!) and of course, seeking out hidden local artisans and their creative treasures!
But first, it’s time to get some rest, ready to explore more tomorrow, pink tutu at the ready. And don’t worry, my dear readers, I will post daily updates on Pink-Tutu.com! Until then, you're left with a thousand dreams of cobblestone streets, fountain-fringed romances, and the ever-present enchantment of Italy!
Adieu for now!
Emma
P.S: I had to tell you about the most magical thing I saw today: a street performer, a violinist, playing the most beautiful melody, the notes spiraling upwards like a dancer's leaps. The melody filled the air, a symphony of joy, sadness, love, and longing all interwoven. And he was playing to an empty square, under the golden Italian sunlight. And darling, that's the beauty of Rome. The artistry, the music, it's a beautiful symphony, and even the silence tells a story.
P.P.S: I am loving how easy it is to get around Rome on foot, and it really feels like my shoes (and tutu!) are dancing through the streets with me! There are so many wonderful sights to see!
P.P.P.S: Don't forget to check out my Instagram (@PinkTutuEmma) for more pink tutu fun from the Eternal City! I’m aiming to make all the Roman locals wear pink!
