Pink Tutu Rome: Post 876 - Ciao Bella! 🇮🇹🌸

Buongiorno from Rome! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome post. Can you believe it's been a whole week since I landed in this fabulous city? Time really does fly when you're twirling around the Colosseum!

This week's been a whirlwind of gelato, ancient history, and, of course, some seriously stylish shopping. I've been embracing the dolce vita (the sweet life) and let me tell you, Rome has truly been living up to its reputation!

Travel by Train

I started the week by hopping on a high-speed train from Florence. The train journey was actually part of the adventure! I love travelling by train. It's so relaxing, I get to gaze out of the window at the beautiful scenery, and it's the perfect opportunity to catch up on some reading - this week, I was hooked on "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo". I'd highly recommend it!

Rome Fashion Finds

As soon as I stepped out of Termini Station, I felt the Roman energy - the vibrant colours, the friendly locals, the delicious aromas coming from street stalls... it was just intoxicating. And speaking of intoxicating, my first order of business was a bit of shopping therapy. Rome's full of unique boutiques, with stunning leather goods and accessories. I snagged a beautiful new pink handbag with a little ballerina charm on it. Couldn't resist! And it'll be perfect for all the shows I'm planning on attending while I'm here. Speaking of…

A Night at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma

Yesterday evening, I had the most wonderful time at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. They were putting on a dazzling production of La Traviata. The singing was sublime, the costumes were breathtaking - it's truly no wonder Italy has such a rich tradition in opera! It also inspired a new idea… imagine a full ballet performance with a chorus of dancers in Pink Tutus. Now that would be a sight to behold!

My Pink Tutu Diaries: Ballet Inspiration in the Eternal City

Being in Rome is giving me so much inspiration. Everywhere you look there are incredible sculptures, mosaics, frescoes – the city is a museum come to life! It's reminding me of the incredible stories that ballet can tell through its movement. You can find the human experience expressed in every graceful gesture and captivating leap. I'm really starting to feel like a ballerina on the brink of an epic performance. This city truly ignites the imagination, doesn't it?

Rome for the Foodie

I can't forget to mention the food! Oh, the food! Rome has me completely charmed. It’s so fresh and delicious, I haven’t eaten this much pasta in years! I'm addicted to the creamy, cheesy Carbonara and the perfectly al dente spaghetti alla Gricia. And of course, no trip to Rome is complete without sampling some authentic Italian gelato. Today I even managed to squeeze in a little gelato tour – just to be sure I tried all the best flavours!

Colosseum Exploration

This week's agenda is all about soaking up some history and exploring the wonders of ancient Rome. Today I explored the Colosseum - an absolute marvel of engineering and architectural brilliance. To think they built that thousands of years ago! It’s so massive and imposing, I can just imagine the roar of the crowd during those gladiatorial battles.

Travel with a Tutu: A Balancing Act

But with all the excitement and the exploring, I've learned that it's a challenge to keep your balance while navigating a city with so much beauty! Yesterday I went a little overboard in a bustling street market, completely forgetting the little secret of a pink tutu - they're fantastic for dancing, not so much for crowded shopping. You'd be amazed what you can fit into the pockets of a pink tutu (although, surprisingly, not a big jar of freshly made pasta!).

A Pink Tutu Calling

My adventures in Rome are far from over, but I've learned a valuable lesson. A little bit of pink, a touch of magic and a whole lot of adventure are all you need for an amazing time in the Eternal City! So, don’t be shy, channel your inner ballerina and explore a new city! Just remember, wearing a pink tutu might just be the most empowering outfit choice you'll ever make - trust me on that!

Catch me next Wednesday, right here on Pink Tutu Rome, for more Italian adventures, inspiring ballet musings, and hopefully, some more pink tutus making their way onto the streets of this beautiful city!

Until then, twirl on!

P.S: Want to know what's happening in Rome on this date, 2012-03-21? The Pantheon, one of Rome’s oldest and most iconic buildings, was just hosting a free performance of The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. What better way to experience the Roman history and culture than by a beautiful performance set in this breathtaking building!
