Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2012-03-28 - #877

Ciao bella!

It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, bringing you the latest from the Eternal City – Rome! This is my 877th post for Pink Tutu, and I'm practically bursting with excitement to share my adventures with you.

Train Travel: A Romantic Start

Remember that little ditty about travelling by train? It's completely true. There's something magical about hurtling across Europe, the countryside whizzing by like a watercolour painting. I just can't help myself, every train journey feels like a romantic adventure, especially with my pink tutu flowing gracefully in the wind (although, I must confess, the air conditioning on this particular Eurostar was brisk).

Rome, I'm Here!

Landing in Rome, I felt a wave of that extraordinary Italian energy wash over me. Everything felt vivid, the smells of coffee and pastries swirling around me, the cobbled streets buzzing with life. I just knew I was going to love this city.

A Pink Tutu Dream: The Trevi Fountain

Naturally, my first stop was the iconic Trevi Fountain, that legendary marble marvel. It was even more stunning than I could have imagined – majestic, grand, and completely captivating. I had to make a wish, of course, a ballerina’s wish, with a twist of pink tutu magic.

And just because I couldn't resist the whimsy, I decided to twirl a little around the fountain – a full pirouette right in front of all those bemused tourists. I felt a bit silly, but heck, Rome is all about embracing life and spreading a bit of pink tutu joy, right?

Pantheon – Heavenly Inspiration

Next, I ventured to the Pantheon, that awe-inspiring dome built for the gods. The architectural mastery is beyond breathtaking. It made me think of a grand stage set, a perfect backdrop for a ballet performance. Just imagine…

Ballet in Rome – The Dream

The air was crackling with artistic energy in this city, and the thought of seeing a ballet performance just had to be a part of my itinerary. You see, my trip to Rome was actually inspired by the Royal Opera House's upcoming tour of "Giselle," and I was eager to catch a glimpse of the Colosseum – the grand setting for this enchanting ballet classic. Imagine a shimmering tutu, the dramatic Colosseum, and Giselle’s ethereal story playing out against the backdrop of ancient Rome. Pure ballet bliss!

Pink Tutu Style: Shopping and Fashion

And no trip to Rome would be complete without a little pink tutu shopping! I headed straight to the chic boutiques in Via Condotti. The window displays were bursting with designer handbags, delicate shoes, and stylish outfits. Of course, I snagged a pair of exquisite rose-gold heels – perfection for a pink tutu lover like me!

A Little Italian Taste of Heaven

I’m no culinary snob, but my tastebuds are quite particular! Rome, of course, offers a smorgasbord of exquisite Italian cuisine, and I sampled it all! From creamy gelato to perfectly al dente pasta, from succulent pizzas to decadent pastries. Every mouthful was an explosion of flavour. I simply couldn't resist snapping photos of each beautiful, delicious morsel!

A Night Under the Stars – The Roman Forum

On Wednesday, I spent the evening wandering around the Roman Forum. It was like stepping back in time, exploring these incredible ruins illuminated under a velvet night sky. I imagined Roman senators making decisions, gladiators battling, emperors strutting… I couldn’t help but channel my inner ballerina with a few graceful poses among the ruins!

Pink Tutu Travels: Inspiration and Inspiration

Every travel adventure provides a spark of inspiration, whether it’s finding the perfect vintage tutu in a Parisian flea market, or capturing the majesty of the Grand Canyon in a pink-tinted sunset. Rome, though, it’s different. It's history, art, culture, and flavour woven into every corner.

Here in Rome, I feel a sense of energy and life force that’s palpable – the very essence of ‘la dolce vita’, the sweet life. And it inspires me, not only in my own ballet performances but also in my pink tutu fashion adventures, reminding me to always dance with joy, embrace every opportunity, and share the pink tutu magic wherever I go.

I can't wait to share more of my adventures in this enchanting city! Until next Wednesday, stay radiant, keep twirling, and remember, everyone deserves a little bit of pink tutu magic.

Ciao bella! Emma
