Pink Tutu Rome: #928 ā Roman Holiday in Pink!
Ciao Bella! Itās Emma from Pink Tutu, bringing you the latest from the Eternal City - Rome! This weekās adventures were a true testament to my love for travel, fashion, andā¦ well, tutus! I swear, the people here think Iām mad, but Iām simply embracing my love for colour and whimsical style, one twirling step at a time!
From Derbyshire to Dolce Vita
It was an absolute dream come true stepping off the train into the heart of Rome, the city pulsating with energy and history. A fellow ballet dancer tipped me off to a stunning production of "La BohĆØme" at the Teatro dellāOpera di Roma. To say I was excited is a huge understatement! And to top it off, they were having a "Pink Dress Up" evening, which obviously had my name written all over it.
My pink tulle skirt twirled magnificently as I explored the grand avenues, taking in the ancient Colosseum and the impressive Pantheon, all while picturing those glorious Romans decked in their finest attire, perhaps a toga, but maybe with a dash of pink! Oh, wouldnāt that be a sight to behold!
Tutu Time in Trastevere
As any savvy traveller knows, a trip to Rome isnāt complete without exploring the vibrant streets of Trastevere. With its cobbled streets, charming trattorias, and captivating shops, this is truly a neighbourhood made for exploring. The quaint boutiques offered me the perfect opportunity to shop for some new pink essentials, you know, to give my wardrobe a bit of a Roman twist. (My little shopping secret ā look out for those āmade in Italyā labels! I snagged the most gorgeous pair of pink leather sandals ā picture-perfect for all my twirling in the Roman sun.)
Dinner with a Side of Dreams
No Rome trip would be complete without a hearty Italian dinner. I had the most delightful evening at "La Carbonara", a cozy family-run trattoria right by the Tiber River. The pasta was heavenly, but it was the charming Italian gentleman at the next table who really caught my eye! He said I was the most stylish woman heād ever seenā¦ it seemed my pink tutu was catching eyes even in this city of sartorial sophistication. Who knows, perhaps a whirlwind romance could blossom in Rome?!
Catching the Spotlight at Teatro dellāOpera di Roma
I donāt know if it was the opera itself or the infectious energy of the Pink Dress Up theme that made āLa BohĆØmeā an unforgettable evening! The opera house was stunningly ornate, with a beautiful blend of history and artistry. As the first act began, a gentle, pink light shone upon the stage. As it filled the theatre, I swear the entire audience shimmered a touch of pink ā just like me! Iād like to think it was my presence that created a pink magic in the air!
My heart, however, was touched not by the love story onstage, but by the warmth of the fellow theatre-goers embracing the "pink dress up" theme. A group of women in stunning rose-toned gowns caught my eye, and the smiles and whispered compliments, "Gorgeous Tutu!" filled me with joy. My fellow pink tutu sisters - oh, how we embraced the night with vibrant energy! It was truly a testament to how a touch of pink can unite people from all walks of life.
Train Time & Saying Ciao!
As I hopped on the train for my return journey, the Italian scenery passing by in a kaleidoscope of green and gold, my heart swelled with happiness. Iād spent the day in Rome ā the city of history and culture ā surrounded by stunning art, captivating music, and the energy of people from around the globe.
I might be a bit "out there" with my pink tutus, but thatās the thing about travel. It encourages us to embrace our true selves and explore the world in our own unique way. Now, back to Derbyshire, but with a heart filled with Roman magic! You know what they say: "Rome wasnāt built in a day, but itās worth a visit any day."

P.S. Have you seen the fabulous costumes in Rome's museums?! I'm a sucker for all things "historic" and the opulent embroidery, the bold colours, and the timeless shapes! It reminds me that even hundreds of years ago, people loved to express their personality through clothing - and to embrace the beauty of colour! Remember - there is a little pink inside each of us - embrace it!
