Pink Tutu Rome #937: Ciao Bella, Roma!
Buongiorno from sunny Rome, darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for your weekly dose of pink tutu travel tales from your favourite ballet-loving blogger, Emma! I'm officially in the Eternal City, and let me tell you, it's every bit as fabulous as I imagined, with enough ancient ruins, cobbled streets, and stunning architecture to satisfy even the most demanding fashionista (yours truly!).
As you know, I'm all about finding that perfect balance between classic elegance and a touch of playful whimsy. So what better way to explore Rome than in my signature pink tutu? Yes, darlings, I've brought my beloved tulle along with me! I mean, how else am I supposed to twirl with delight in front of the Colosseum? (Don't worry, I kept it to a few graceful pirouettes!)
This week, I arrived in Rome after a rather enchanting train journey through the rolling Italian countryside. My pink tulle was the perfect travelling companion – imagine me, settled in my first-class compartment, sipping on Prosecco, gazing at the emerald fields and pastel-coloured villages whizzing by. Honestly, I could have stayed on that train for days!
Rome welcomed me with open arms, or maybe it was just the aroma of freshly baked focaccia that had me in a giddy, delirious state! My hotel is a quaint little gem tucked away in a quiet side street just a stone's throw from the Pantheon. And speaking of quaint, have you seen the flower stalls here? Every corner is a burst of colour with their vibrant roses, geraniums, and sunflowers – just the inspiration I need for my next ballet outfit!
A Fashionable Stroll through Trastevere:
Since my arrival, I've already managed to get a taste of Rome's bohemian charm in Trastevere. It’s a vibrant, eclectic maze of cobblestone streets and colourful buildings filled with independent boutiques and bustling cafés. My fellow tutufarians, prepare to have your senses overloaded – imagine a symphony of aromas: coffee roasting, basil simmering in sauces, freshly-baked pizza wafting through the air, all under the romantic glow of the golden Roman sun! It's truly captivating!
Of course, I had to find a shop bursting with clothes to suit my delicate taste (a girl has to accessorise for her Instagram photos, right?). And let me tell you, Rome has you covered! I found this darling little shop tucked away in Trastevere – an explosion of floral prints, lace, silk scarves, and the most beautiful collection of pink handbags I've ever seen. It was pure fashion heaven, and I may have succumbed to a little retail therapy (a few floral dresses, some exquisite Italian silk scarves, and a charming straw hat, oh dear!).
The Ballet Dreams are Alive in Rome:
While my passion for fashion burns bright, ballet always holds a special place in my heart. Thankfully, Rome has an amazing theatre scene! And, as fate would have it, on Wednesday, May 22nd (today!), the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma has a special performance of "La Traviata". This evening will be the highlight of my week – the stunning opera, the sumptuous costumes, the soaring music - pure perfection. And believe me, you’ll be seeing all the best outfit inspiration from tonight's show on my Instagram story – so make sure you're following me (@PinkTutuEmma)!
Tips for My Fellow Tutu-wearing Travelers:
I always find it’s so important to spread the tutu love and to encourage others to step out of their comfort zones. Embrace your inner ballerina and feel confident about showing off your inner princess! As for travelling to Rome, here’s some advice from this pink-loving ballerina:
Travel in style: The journey is just as important as the destination. Take the time to relax on a train, a charming cafe or in a picturesque square - always with your pink tulle in tow of course.
Eat your way through the city: Embrace Italian cuisine! Start with breakfast of cornetti, pastries, coffee and Prosecco – a delicious Italian treat! For dinner, make sure to try carbonara, gnocchi, tiramisu – it's all divine. Don’t forget to enjoy the famous Roman gelato, the perfect dessert after a day exploring!
Dress the part: Don’t be afraid to experiment with bold prints and colours and remember to always embrace that pink tutu. Let’s spread the love for tutus around the world. And Rome is the perfect place to do so.
Embrace the slow pace of life: Rome has a magical way of slowing you down. Take your time, relax, soak up the atmosphere, and enjoy the beauty of this timeless city.
And remember, darling, no matter where life takes you, always keep that inner ballerina spirit alive, twirl with confidence, and always wear your pink tutu with pride!
I’m going to get ready now for the beautiful opera – Ciao bella Roma, you’ve already stolen my heart!
Until next week,
Your Pink Tutu-clad Friend, Emma www.pink-tutu.com
