Pink Tutu Rome: Post #939 – The Eternal City of Chic!
Wednesday, 2013-06-05
Buongiorno, my lovelies!
It’s Emma here, your Pink Tutu ballerina, bringing you another Wednesday dose of fashion, travel, and of course, tutus, from the fabulous city of Rome. I’m finally here, darling, the Eternal City, after a rather exciting train journey from Paris. There's something so exhilarating about arriving in a new place by train – all that romantic scenery whizzing by, the anticipation building, and you're just moments away from a brand new adventure!
Now, before I spill all the beans about this fabulous Italian adventure, I've got to tell you about my latest ensemble. Oh, you just have to picture it! My gorgeous bubblegum pink tutu, just slightly shorter than my usual showstopper, perfectly paired with a flowing, cherry-red silk top with lace detailing at the sleeves – simply divine! It all felt so effortlessly stylish, and I couldn’t help but catch a few admiring glances as I strutted through the station. Did I mention that I wore my sparkly, pink, ballerina flats, which perfectly complemented the red in the top? Let’s just say I felt like a little piece of Roman glamour myself, and this was just the beginning of the trip!
The city is breathtaking, you know. A million different shades of terracotta roof tiles in the glorious sunshine, ancient Roman ruins popping up at every corner, a symphony of Vespa scooters zipping by, and that captivating Italian charm – a little piece of heaven, if I do say so myself.
Ballet, Beautiful Buildings & Shopping Spree!
One of my main missions for this trip, besides experiencing Rome in all its glory, is of course to find a local ballet studio to get in a quick class or two. The rhythm of this place has inspired me! Now, you all know how much I adore ballet, and the opportunity to connect with fellow dancers in a foreign country, well, it’s just intoxicating! Plus, it helps keep my dance legs ready for the performance I've got booked for the Bolshoi Ballet next month – eep! It’s been quite a busy month – but good busy!
My first day in Rome was a whirlwind of exploration! We started at the Roman Forum, surrounded by magnificent ancient structures, and it was fascinating to see all those centuries just swirling around me! Next, a quick stop at the Colosseum – a magnificent, huge monument! It’s been a while since I last walked among such inspiring buildings, so my brain was completely filled with architecture! The city was a true inspiration for some new choreography for the Bolshoi performance too! And the inspiration didn’t end there...
Later that evening, my sister and I ventured into a hidden, enchanting alleyway full of artisanal shops – a true Aladdin’s Cave for finding gorgeous goodies. And what’s more, I had to stop for the most exquisite gelato, made from the most flavourful strawberries. Of course, being me, I made sure my pink tutu coordinated with this Italian ice-cream dream, and yes, I got lots of lovely smiles! The Italians, they're real romantics for a tutu – or perhaps they just love the pink. Whatever it is, they do know a little bit about beauty!
From Rome's Heart to the Ballet Stage!
Tomorrow we have a treat in store, my dear lovelies, a trip to the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel. I’m very much looking forward to marveling at the artistry – it’ll be just the perfect preparation for the Bolshoi! And of course, my tutu will be taking center stage for my grand tour of the chapel – it just feels so fitting.
My adventures in Rome have been absolutely spectacular so far. I’m soaking in every moment of this unique city, its vibrant colors, fascinating culture, and, most of all, the feeling of pure joy that washes over me every time I don my pink tutu. It's amazing how one simple item can transform my perception of a place, transforming ordinary into extraordinary. It's the ultimate reminder to find joy in the small things, to embrace colour and to let your imagination run wild.
And to all you gorgeous people reading this, keep those pink tutus at the ready, darling! You never know when an opportunity to embrace a little magic might present itself! Remember, the power of a pink tutu is real! It’s the perfect catalyst to transform the everyday and remind us of the magic in life – and who wouldn’t want a touch of magic in their day?
Sending you all big pink tutus of love from the heart of Rome,
Emma
