Welcome back to Pink Tutu Rome, my lovely readers! It's Wednesday, and that means another delightful dose of fashion, travel and, of course, pink! This week, I'm in the Eternal City itself, Rome, and let me tell you, it's living up to its name.
#946 - La Dolce Vita in Pink
This past week has been a whirlwind of ancient history, cobbled streets and, most importantly, fabulous outfits! You can't visit a city like Rome without embracing its vibrant culture, and I'm all for it, right down to the gelato and the perfectly curated Aperol Spritzes (always in a fabulous pink glass, of course!).
This week's travels began with a rather stylish train journey from beautiful, historic Derbyshire, where I was performing a small but captivating piece for the local arts centre. A delightful way to raise funds for my travels, and to keep those pirouettes sharp! As the train pulled out of the station, I was already mentally crafting the outfits I'd be wearing in Rome - a vibrant pink silk dress for exploring the Forum, a floral print tutu for a deliciously Roman picnic under the Spanish Steps.
My Roman adventure officially commenced with a hearty helping of the freshest pasta imaginable, enjoyed with a lovely couple who introduced me to their local neighbourhood gem - a bustling, noisy trattoria with red and white checkered tablecloths and the best "Mamma Mia" singing in the entire city. Oh, the stories!
Fashion Finds in Rome - Chic & Sassy
But let's get to the heart of this post - my beloved fashion! You know I'm a girl who loves a bit of sartorial whimsy. So, after a delightful day of sightseeing (with a few photo opportunities for you lovely people, of course!) and a quick nap after all that gelato, I hit the streets. I found myself in the heart of Rome's luxury fashion district, surrounded by designer boutiques and enough sequins to make a mermaid blush.
My inner stylist went wild! There was a divine little boutique bursting with vintage, floral dresses - perfect for channeling my inner Italian chic. And I had to snag a couple of vibrant, cherry red scarves - just a dash of hotness to elevate my everyday outfits.
But the ultimate discovery? The most adorable pink tulle shop! They had tutus of all shapes, sizes, and colours, even some sassy black ones. Of course, I picked up a baby pink one with delicate floral embroidery, because who can resist a bit of extra feminine fluff? (Even when travelling!)
Theatrical Treats and Artistic Adventures
Later this week, I'm catching a performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. A ballet performance? You bet! I've been waiting all year for this! Nothing like watching some world-class dance under the opulent chandeliers of a magnificent Italian theatre. To get a little inspiration and feel that fire burning, I also squeezed in a class at a ballet school nestled in a charming cobblestone alleyway. The Italian passion for art shines through in every dance step!
Rome, Sweet Rome - A Pink Paradise!
Rome has stolen my heart! Every street, every café, every gelato stall oozes with romance and la dolce vita. And let me tell you, my dear readers, Rome in pink is an absolute dream. From the cascading pink roses in the gardens of the Borghese Gallery to the pastel pinks that paint the sunset sky over the Tiber River, it's a pink paradise for a tutu-wearing fashionista!
But the true magic of Rome is found in its heart, its people. The warm, vibrant energy that courses through its ancient veins. The gioia di vivere (joy of life!) is palpable in every gesture, every conversation, every stolen kiss on the street.
