Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella, Italy! (Post #966)

Hello my gorgeous darlings! It’s Emma here, ready to twirl into your Wednesday with a big, bright, pink “ciao bella!” from the heart of Rome! This week, it’s Italy’s turn to feel the tutu magic, and I must tell you, the Colosseum has never looked quite so enchanting.

You see, dear friends, after countless performances and some serious savings, my dream of travelling across Europe on the Pink Tutu Train is becoming a delightful reality. My latest journey? Straight to the eternal city, and let me tell you, every single step (even those in the notoriously crowded Termini Station) feels like a twirling, pirouette-filled fairy tale.

I’m going to be honest, the last few weeks have been absolutely crazy busy. My Derbyshire ballet school finally gave me the stage time I’ve been yearning for, with a delightful performance of ‘The Nutcracker’ last month. Honestly, performing on a real stage again filled me with a happiness so strong it practically put a skip in my step!

But amidst all the glitter, tights, and beautiful tutus (obviously in all shades of pink, darling), I had to start packing! My faithful suitcase, always ready for a journey to wherever the pink tutu magic might take me, is bursting with new clothes (because of course a pink-loving ballerina always has room for more gorgeous frocks). There’s even a specially-made ballet travel bag – a true must-have when you’re packing for multiple shows in one day (who says travelling and ballet can’t be glam? Definitely not this Pink Tutu girl).

My arrival in Rome was like a dream. The warm Italian sunshine hit me like a beautiful beam of stage light, the streets bustled with excitement, and the scents of freshly baked pastries just floated on the air. Did I mention they even have gelaterias that offer pink sorbet? The ultimate treat for a pink tutu aficionado!

Wednesday's Wandering and Wondering

So, how did I spend my first Wednesday in the city of emperors, gladiators, and incredible Italian food? Let’s just say, “amore!” This charming little city is like stepping onto the set of a film. Seriously, I haven’t been able to put my camera down all day!

The day began with a truly unique experience. I decided to take a “Pink Tutu Train Tour” (which was just a normal train journey from the station to my adorable, pink-themed B&B near the Spanish Steps – which I had to check out!) But seriously, imagine a bunch of tourists snapping pictures as I twirled past, with a pink feather boa slung across my shoulders! Just another day being me – that’s the beauty of travelling on the Pink Tutu Train!

Once settled into my beautifully decorated room (with the biggest bed you’ve ever seen!), it was time to explore. My first stop? Piazza di Spagna, which as you may know, is home to those iconic Spanish Steps – an Instagrammer's dream! The view from the top was absolutely breathtaking and just begged for a photo. It’s one thing to dream about such magnificent places, but it’s another to experience them in person!

But you know me, my dear friends, it wasn't just the beauty that captivated me. The incredible fashion scene is just bursting with potential! I couldn’t resist popping into a little vintage boutique I found tucked away on a side street – talk about a treasure trove! Some beautiful lace dresses with delicate embellishments
I felt like a princess for the afternoon! It would’ve been the perfect outfit for a night at the Opera. (Ooh, a thought for tomorrow!).

By this point, the rumbling in my stomach was demanding some attention. A delectable plate of spaghetti carbonara in a cute little trattoria just around the corner put a stop to that. Followed by some seriously divine gelato (pink of course!).

Speaking of pink, I couldn’t leave without stopping by the Trevi Fountain. I might be a little embarrassed to say this but I literally gasped at the sight. Talk about fairytale worthy! The golden glow, the incredible intricate detail, the cool refreshing water
it's everything I imagined it would be, but so much more.

Later that evening, after some quick changes (you’ve got to have a couple of different outfit changes for a perfect Italian evening), I ended my day with a ballet performance – naturally! I discovered the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma is putting on a beautiful production of Swan Lake. And wouldn’t you know it, they had a couple of open seats at the last minute. Talk about a lucky girl! The performance was beyond words – every pirouette, every grand jetĂ© was so exquisitely crafted, so full of beauty. It really is such a joy to see such dedication and talent, isn’t it?

A Pink Tutu Night

But wait! It wasn’t over! This evening, Rome came alive with an incredible atmosphere! The city transformed into a sparkling, neon-lit, energy-filled dance floor. From cobbled alleyways to elegant restaurants, it seems the whole city knows how to party.

After the theatre, a group of Italian dancers spotted my bright pink tutu, gave me a genuine “ciao bella” (in flawless English!) and led me to an open-air performance. You wouldn’t believe it - an incredible mix of music, lights, and some absolutely fabulous ballet moves under the starry Roman sky. And did I mention that I tried the most delicious focaccia bread after the show? I’m already making a plan for tomorrow!

With a contented smile and a twirling heart, I’m settling in for the night in my dreamy pink-themed B&B, and I’ve gotta say, Italy truly knows how to make you feel welcomed. I’m feeling inspired already.

Toodles from the City of Love (and Pastries!)

Don’t forget to subscribe to my Pink Tutu Train Adventures blog at www.pink-tutu.com! There’s new blog posts every Wednesday! I’ll be posting again next week from the Tuscan hills.

But remember, the magic of the Pink Tutu Train isn’t just about me. It’s about making every journey an adventure, making the world a little bit more twirly, and reminding everyone that a little bit of pink magic can change your world. So, whether you're in the mood for ballet, fashion, food, or just a little bit of travel inspiration, keep checking in!

Much love from a pink tutu-clad ballerina living the dream.

Until next time, darlings!

Emma xx
