Pink Tutu Rome: #961 - Wednesday 6th November 2013

Hello lovelies! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome blog post! This week has been absolutely jam-packed with fun and excitement, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

As you all know, I absolutely adore travelling by train. There's just something about the gentle swaying rhythm and the views whizzing by that sets my mind at ease. This week I was particularly excited because my journey took me all the way to Rome!

Now, I know what you're thinking. Rome. The Eternal City. The cradle of civilization. All very serious and impressive, right? Well, let me tell you, Rome is all of those things and so much more! It's a place where history comes alive, where cobbled streets whisper stories of ancient emperors, and where gelato is practically a national pastime.

But for me, Rome is also a place of colour, fashion, and most importantly - inspiration! As a ballerina and a self-proclaimed pink tutu ambassador, it's impossible not to be swept away by the incredible beauty and artistry of this city.

First things first, let's talk about the food. Rome has the most incredible cuisine! From freshly baked bread to creamy pasta dishes and the most delectable pizza I've ever tasted, it's a foodie paradise! The Italians truly know how to eat, and I've been absolutely spoilt rotten with delicious food all week.

On Monday, I popped into this amazing little cafรฉ called "Il Pompiere". They served up the most amazing Arancini, little balls of rice filled with cheesy goodness! They were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft and gooey in the middle. I practically devoured the whole plate in one go! I think they served me extra because of the pretty pink tutu I was wearing! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Of course, no trip to Rome is complete without a visit to the Trevi Fountain. It's even more magnificent in person, towering above the bustling crowds like a breathtaking masterpiece. The glistening water, the intricate sculptures, and the romantic atmosphere make it an absolute must-see.

As for my ballet adventures, Rome certainly did not disappoint! I was lucky enough to see a performance by the Accademia Nazionale di Danza. The dancers were truly captivating, their movements so graceful and expressive, and the choreography absolutely breathtaking! I even got to go backstage afterwards to meet some of the dancers, which was an absolute dream!

It wouldn't be a true Pink Tutu trip without some serious shopping! And Rome is a fashion lover's paradise! From chic boutiques in the heart of the city to street stalls overflowing with handmade jewellery and leather goods, you can find everything you could ever desire. I managed to snag a pair of gorgeous silk ballet flats in the prettiest shade of blush pink! Can't wait to wear them on stage!

I even had a wonderful surprise waiting for me this week, just outside the Vatican. Imagine my joy at finding a group of people all dressed in pink tutus - a pink tutu flash mob, I kid you not! They performed a little piece of a ballet number, just for fun! My tutu, although I did feel I wore it the most gracefully, was actually put to shame. The best part, they started a hashtag #RomeTutus I may just have to send a video!

*As always, I've been taking lots of photos to share with you all, and you can check out my latest Instagram posts on my profile (link at the top of this page!) *I'm posting pictures almost daily now that I'm on my travels - feel free to follow my adventures on social media!

But Rome isn't just about sights and sounds, it's about the feeling. It's a city that truly gets under your skin, leaving you with a sense of wonder, excitement, and endless possibility. Rome, I'm in love!

See you next Wednesday!

Emma xoxo
