Buongiorno, darling readers! Emma here, back from the Eternal City, Rome! This is my ninth blog post from this magical metropolis - can you believe it? The Italian capital is so intoxicating, and I’m feeling completely enthralled. As I sip on my cappuccino, overlooking the stunning Spanish Steps, it feels like a dream. This week, we’re venturing beyond the Colosseum, to explore the incredible artistry of ballet in this city, but first, let’s dive into what made this Wednesday, the 13th of November 2013, such a glorious day.
From Derbyshire to the Italian Capital: A Whirlwind Journey
My journey started in good ol' Derbyshire, England, as always! After a fabulously choreographed routine at the local theatre, where my pink tutu really shone under the stage lights, I made my way to the station. I absolutely adore travelling by train. It allows me to watch the world go by, sketching inspiration for my next tutus, perhaps adorned with the hues of autumnal leaves or the vibrancy of a Tuscan vineyard!
The journey to Rome is an adventure in itself, through bustling cities and serene landscapes. Arriving at Roma Termini station was like stepping into a glamorous film set, brimming with life and energy. I, of course, chose the pinkest carriage for my Italian journey – naturally!
Buongiorno Bella Roma: A Day of Fashion & Food
The first stop was my charming, pink-hued hotel in Trastevere, a picturesque neighbourhood filled with quaint cafes and cobblestone streets. I could smell the aroma of freshly baked bread, mingling with the tangy scent of jasmine from the blooming gardens. And oh, the outfits! The Romans have such a fabulous flair for style! My mind raced with ideas for a new tutu collection inspired by the delicate lace dresses and elegant scarves, infused with the passion of Italian fashion.
No trip to Rome would be complete without experiencing its renowned culinary delights. I enjoyed the most heavenly pizza, with its thin, crispy base, perfectly layered with fresh, tangy mozzarella, bursting with flavour. Each bite was a masterpiece! After lunch, I indulged in a scoop of creamy, decadent gelato – the perfect dessert after a day of exploration. I found myself feeling positively rosy with delight!
Opera, Elegance, and a Pink Tutu in the Palazzo Barberini
Tonight, my journey led me to the prestigious Palazzo Barberini. I wasn’t attending a stuffy opera; instead, I had a front-row seat for the magnificent “Giselle,” a breathtaking performance at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. The artistry, grace, and raw passion of the dancers stole my breath. I felt so inspired! The grand stage with its intricate set design was breathtaking, the exquisite costumes dazzling, and the haunting melody, simply magical.
Imagine, my dears, me in my shimmering pink tutu, swaying in the audience, transported by the magic of this ballet masterpiece. It felt as if I had been whisked away to a fairytale world, where love, beauty, and grace intertwined in an enchanting ballet of emotions. And what did I spot? Another beautiful pink tutu in the ballet. Oh, the joy! Pink tutus are spreading!
A Love Letter to Rome
As I pen this blog post from my hotel balcony, the lights of the city glimmering below, I’m filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Rome has captured my heart with its history, its culture, and its exquisite ballet performances. The city has so much to offer; it's a haven for art, fashion, and the pursuit of passion!
Rome, you’ve painted a vibrant portrait of elegance, artistry, and passion, and I am truly in awe. My visit has been nothing short of spectacular! It's confirmed that Rome is a must-see for any tutu enthusiast and fashion aficionado!
