Pink Tutu Rome: #974 - La Dolce Vita in a Pink Tutu!
Buongiorno, darlings! It’s Wednesday, which means it's time for another instalment of Pink Tutu Rome, straight from the cobbled streets of this incredible city! I'm your resident pink tutu-clad explorer, Emma, and this week I’m all about La Dolce Vita - living life to the fullest, in pink of course!
This week has been an absolute whirlwind, with ballets, beautiful outfits, and enough pasta to fuel a ballerina for a year!
I arrived in Rome by train last Saturday - my absolute favourite way to travel, a symphony of clicking wheels and rumbling engines, the scent of fresh air as we rush through the countryside. There's nothing quite like arriving at a new city after a long train journey, the air thick with excitement. I’m all about embracing those little details, the charm of it all.
Now, this being Rome, you can imagine my first stop. A little sartorial heaven! This glorious boutique tucked away on a little backstreet. And of course, the most gorgeous pink silk blouse with the most delicate lace detailing. I just couldn't resist! Perfect for this weekend’s visit to the Colosseum - it's all about those little sartorial touches, my dears! Matching the grandeur of ancient Rome with my signature pink tutu, and a touch of feminine sophistication - I can’t imagine it any other way!
Speaking of ancient wonders, did you know that February 5th is the feast day of Saint Agatha? A lovely patron saint of fire, breast cancer survivors and women! So I celebrated with a little pilgrimage to the Basilica of Sant'Agata in Trastevere, a beautiful basilica dedicated to her, of course in my pink tutu - it seemed appropriate, don’t you think?
The next day, I finally indulged in that authentic Roman pasta experience! Can you imagine the delight of devouring the most beautiful hand-rolled pasta, fresh out of the kitchen - spaghetti carbonara, ricotta and spinach ravioli...my taste buds are dancing! It truly is La Dolce Vita living!
To really embrace the city’s vibrant culture, I ventured to the beautiful Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. It was absolutely breathtaking! Imagine soaring high ceilings, elaborate Victorian-era chandeliers and intricate gold ornamentation. I saw a stunning rendition of "La Bohème", so dramatic and emotional. The story really touched my soul!
Now, this wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Rome blog without some serious fashion inspiration, right? My outfit? Well, I paired my stunning new pink blouse with a tiered tulle skirt in blush pink - the soft colour just radiated in the Roman sun. A touch of pink velvet ribbon tied in a delicate bow at my waist was just the perfect finishing touch, adding that extra touch of feminine flair, my signature, after all! And, naturally, my trusty pink tutu layered over the skirt for an extra dose of playful sparkle. It's about layering those pieces for the ultimate romantic and graceful look, darling.
My week has been filled with these moments of serenity, delicious food, and discovering hidden corners of this captivating city. You can find me wandering the historic Piazza Navona, strolling along the banks of the Tiber, exploring the vibrant markets of Trastevere, taking in the beautiful Roman sunsets.
Now, I want to know about YOU, dear reader. Tell me - what’s on YOUR must-see list when visiting Rome? Any hidden gems you've found?
And remember, always wear your pink tutu with confidence, you stunning diva!
Till next Wednesday, my darlings.
Yours in pink, Emma www.pink-tutu.com
