Pink Tutu Rome: Week 973 - Romancing the Colosseum!
Ciao bella!
Welcome back to Pink Tutu Rome, the weekly chronicle of my fabulous Italian adventures! Today, my dears, is a day for embracing the magic of this timeless city. Rome has so much to offer – stunning architecture, vibrant culture, delectable food, and endless shopping opportunities (you know how I feel about a good spree!), and, as always, my pink tutu will be accompanying me on every exploration.
Before we dive into today's adventures, I simply have to gush about last night's show. I've been lucky enough to be performing at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. It's been a whirlwind, with rehearsals, press interviews (oh, did I tell you the Corriere della Sera interviewed me for their lifestyle section? It's quite a coup, don't you think!), and a grand performance last night. It was truly magical. The roar of the crowd after the final curtain call gave me butterflies in my stomach - that's the best feeling in the world! But enough about me - let's get to the delicious, juicy details of our day!
Train Travel, Italian Style
As always, my adventures began with a stylish train journey. This time, I decided to ditch the underground and opt for the romantic experience of the Ferrovie dello Stato, which gave me the chance to fully take in the beauty of the cityscape. I swear, every time I see those beautiful old buildings, cobblestone streets, and ancient monuments, I feel like I've stepped back in time – it’s absolutely mesmerizing! I also caught a glimpse of the majestic Colosseum, looking even more awe-inspiring from the perspective of a sleek, high-speed train.
A Pink Tutu at the Colosseum
Okay, so you've probably figured out that I had to bring my pink tutu along, and it would only be fitting to show off this stunning architectural marvel in my signature attire. Who says pink and ancient Rome don’t mix?! As I twirled my way around the Colosseum, I was feeling like the most stylish gladiator in town, a princess ready to take on the arena. I just had to capture the moment with a few photos, don’t you think? Just imagine me, with the Colosseum’s imposing grandeur in the background, a whirl of pink tulle against the earthy brown stones - so picturesque, don't you think?
Lunch with a View
After my gladiatorial fashion show at the Colosseum, I treated myself to a delicious lunch at a delightful cafe near the Trevi Fountain. Let’s be honest, it wouldn't be a true Italian experience without a leisurely meal savoring authentic Italian flavors. I enjoyed the freshest caprese salad imaginable, followed by pasta carbonara - oh, that rich and creamy sauce! I must admit, I also ordered an extra side of fries because I was in such a good mood after my whirlwind morning. Let's be real, no meal is complete without a generous helping of chips, and if you're wearing pink tutu, a little bit of salt and vinegar won’t hurt, eh?
Trevi Fountain Dreams
No trip to Rome would be complete without visiting the legendary Trevi Fountain! It's a truly mesmerizing spot with its graceful sculpture and beautiful cascading water. I, of course, tossed a coin in the fountain for good luck. Did you know, dear reader, that it’s believed that if you throw a coin into the fountain with your back to it, you are guaranteed to return to Rome one day? I can’t imagine a life without experiencing the magic of this incredible city, so I threw in a rather grand €2 coin just for good measure.
Pink Tutu Goes Shopping
You know me, my dears, I wouldn't dare visit a city like Rome without embracing the world of shopping! The city is overflowing with beautiful boutiques, charming antique shops, and vintage stores filled with timeless treasures. I love the way you can find little hidden gems around every corner. Today, I went on a little treasure hunt, scooping up some gorgeous lace gloves and a hand-painted Italian fan. But my favourite find was an incredibly exquisite silk scarf in the most vibrant shade of fuchsia – it’s perfect for those elegant evenings spent at the opera.
Dinner in the Heart of the City
After my afternoon of shopping and exploring, it was time for another fantastic dinner in Rome! This evening, I dined in the enchanting neighborhood of Trastevere. Its picturesque cobblestone streets, charming piazzas, and bustling eateries always draw me in with their romantic charm. The evening’s highlight was my dining experience at La Tavernaccia da Bruno, a bustling traditional restaurant renowned for its authentic Roman dishes. I simply had to order the cacio e pepe, a rich, cheesy pasta dish that is always a delight!
A Pink Tutu in a Roman Sunset
Rome is truly stunning during sunset! The city’s historic buildings bathe in a warm golden glow. I took a walk along the banks of the Tiber River, captivated by the stunning sky filled with hues of orange, pink, and violet. And, yes, my pink tutu made an appearance during this magical sunset stroll, too, adding a splash of colour to the captivating cityscape. I mean, how else would I be the perfect Instagram backdrop, right?
Farewell, Rome!
Well, dear reader, another week in the heart of Rome is coming to an end. And, oh, what a week it's been! From exhilarating performances on stage to delightful strolls along cobblestone streets and romantic evenings dining under the Tuscan sky, every moment was a joy. Rome has a magic to it, don’t you think? This is what I love about being a traveling ballerina! I am lucky enough to share my passions for dance, fashion, and adventure, all while traveling to amazing places like this gorgeous city. I am so grateful to all of you who follow my adventures at Pink Tutu! I can’t wait to see where next week takes me – perhaps, I’ll explore the ancient ruins of Pompeii, or even journey to the beautiful Amalfi Coast. For now, however, I will dream of a city as elegant, charming, and captivating as Rome, the city that never ceases to inspire!
Ciao, bella! Until next week…
Love,
Emma
