Hello, my dearest Tutu Tribe! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another Pink Tutu adventure, this time from the Eternal City itself, Rome! I know what you’re thinking – Rome, tutus, does that even make sense? Trust me, it's fabulous!
A Derbyshire Girl in the Eternal City
So here I am, Emma from Derbyshire, England, living my best life in Rome. This trip’s a dream come true – you know how much I adore travel, and I funded this little escapade by performing at some incredible ballet events back in the UK. I must say, there's nothing like travelling by train across Europe. It's so relaxing, and I get to admire all the beautiful scenery - a real fairytale come to life!
Wednesday's Itinerary: A Fashion & Food Filled Day
Right, now let's get to today's adventure!
This Wednesday (19th February 2014) has been pure magic, and believe me, I wouldn't have it any other way. I woke up feeling extra-pink and vibrant - it's that Rome effect! - so I knew it was going to be a wonderful day. After indulging in a delicious Italian breakfast (cappuccino and cornetto - it's all about that carbs!), I slipped on my favourite pink tutu and hit the streets.
My first stop was the Campo de' Fiori. Now, let me tell you, it's not your usual floral market. This place is an absolute feast for the senses, a vibrant and bustling hub bursting with colours and scents. Forget your bland supermarkets - this is where you find the freshest fruit, the most vibrant vegetables, and the tastiest cheeses. The vendors are friendly and lively, making you feel like you’re part of the local life. I felt right at home! I grabbed a few tasty treats to sample on my way through – I am a firm believer in “when in Rome, eat the cornetto”.

From the market, it was a short walk to my next destination: the Pantheon. This architectural wonder truly takes your breath away. Imagine it: huge, round, and breathtakingly beautiful, bathed in a soft, golden light streaming through the hole in the roof. You can’t help but feel a sense of awe. As for my pink tutu? It added a touch of whimsicality to the experience - picture me spinning around the interior in my pink paradise. You’ll have to wait for the photos (coming soon to Pink-Tutu.com)!
Shopping for Ballet & Couture in Rome
Rome, of course, is a haven for fashionistas, and I wasn’t going to miss out! After lunch at a quaint trattoria, my pink tutu and I set off on a delightful shopping spree. I managed to squeeze in some vintage shops, filled with fabulous pieces for the stage, along with the perfect ballet shoes (sparkly and pink, of course!). I found myself snagged in the latest designer boutique admiring some beautiful dresses, a few of which may have found their way into my suitcase… but let's just say you'll have to wait for my future fashion blog for all the details!
The Magic of a Roman Opera
The evening concluded with an unforgettable treat – a beautiful opera performance. Imagine sitting in a grand, candlelit theater, surrounded by the elegance of a Roman night, listening to the most magical music. It was like a fairy tale come alive. As I watched the beautiful voices dance through the air, I felt completely transported to another time and place. It was like experiencing the city’s history and romance wrapped up in a beautiful performance – the ultimate Roman evening! I could get used to this, indeed!
From Rome with Love (and a Pink Tutu!)
Rome has truly stolen a piece of my heart. It’s a place that lives up to its hype – breathtaking scenery, incredible food, friendly people, and captivating culture. But you know me, I wouldn't leave without trying to inspire others with the magic of tutus! During my walks through the city, I saw many children dreaming big, so I took every opportunity to share my pink tutu love! I gave out free little tutu ribbons to any kids who looked particularly curious. Let's face it, I knew my presence would brighten their day, right?! Every girl and boy deserves a bit of magic! After all, who wouldn’t be delighted to find a little pink tutu sparkle on a gorgeous day in Rome?
I'm now heading back to Derbyshire, my bags packed with stories and inspiration for the next chapter of my Pink Tutu journey!
