Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2014-04-02 - A whirlwind of Colosseum, Cathedrals, and Candy-Colored Dreams!
Post Number 982: Rome Calling!
Buongiorno, my darling tutu-wearers! It's Emma from Pink Tutu here, reporting live from the eternal city! Every Wednesday, I take you along with me on my sartorial and soul-searching adventures. This week? Well, it's Rome, and my dear friends, let me tell you, it's been absolutely divine. I wouldn't say the Romans wear much pink, but trust me, my pink tutu has turned heads wherever I go. ๐
The journey to Rome...
You know I love travelling by train. The smooth rhythm of the tracks, the endless countryside flashing by the window, it's like a ballet itself! This time, my train ride was especially glamorous. Imagine, if you will, a quaint, little French station. Sun-drenched, cobbled streets leading up to the platform. As I settled into my seat, a group of dapper Italian gentlemen strolled past, sporting immaculate suits, their sun-kissed faces full of a certain je ne sais quoi.
Even with my usual flamboyant attire, I felt utterly chic as we zoomed through the French countryside. I watched the scenery go by, dreaming of ancient ruins and decadent gelato. I dreamt of grand Roman piazzas, adorned with pastel pink and violet blooms... you know me, always with a vision of pink in mind!
Rome, oh Rome!
Now, I'm sure you've all seen pictures of the Colosseum, right? Let me tell you, in person, it is a truly breathtaking monument. Imagine a giant, honey-colored ring of stone, whispering stories of gladiators, lions, and ancient emperors. I twirled and leaped amidst the shadows, pretending to be a Roman dancer, my pink tutu a splash of vibrance amidst the dusty ruins.
As a ballerina, I feel such a connection to the history and architecture of Rome. The Colosseum's soaring arches, the marble sculptures in the squares, it all evokes the power and grace of ancient dance. Of course, no trip to Rome is complete without a visit to the Trevi Fountain. It was truly romantic, all those flickering flames of the gas lights, reflecting off the cascading water. I must admit, tossing a coin in for good luck while dreaming of dancing through the cobbled streets was utterly charming.
A Ballet Lover's Delight
Of course, as a ballet devotee, the most magical experience was catching a performance at the Teatro dell'Opera. Imagine an evening in a beautifully grand theatre, bathed in a soft amber light. The dancers, their movements echoing through the gilded balconies, it was truly inspiring! I felt so connected to the music and the storytelling.
And, in between the iconic sights and the enchanting ballet performances, I have found a real treat in the Italian passion for food and fashion!
Fashion Fix
It wouldn't be Pink Tutu without a dash of shopping, now would it? I spent an entire day exploring the fabulous boutiques of Via Condotti, dreaming of a world where pink tutus were as commonplace as black coats in London. The Italian sense of style is so sophisticated, with exquisite fabrics and impeccable tailoring. I couldn't help but pick up a beautiful pink silk scarf - a touch of pink elegance for a little extra flair to my already vibrant wardrobe!
Food, glorious food!
And let's not forget about the food, oh my! I savoured creamy pasta al pesto, the most divine Neapolitan pizza you can imagine, and oh, that creamy gelato! Even with all this yummy food, my appetite for beautiful pink ballet shoes and pretty dresses is just as big. It is almost unfair how much my sartorial senses are delighted by all things beautiful, luxurious and... pink, of course!
A Final Waltz
My journey through Rome is ending, but I'm already yearning to return to this enchanting city, filled with ancient wonders, beautiful people, and delicious treats.
And remember my dear friends, spread the joy! Don't be afraid to embrace your inner pink tutu wearer. The world needs a touch of whimsy and grace, and who better to embody that than a pink tutu-clad ballerina!
So until next time, may your dance steps be filled with elegance and your hearts filled with joy.
With Love and Twirls,
Emma
