Pink Tutu Rome: #984 - La Dolce Vita in a Pink Tutu
Ciao bellas! Emma here, fresh from the cobbled streets of Rome, my head swirling with gelato dreams and the echoes of street musicians. It’s Wednesday, so that means it's time for my weekly Rome diary! Welcome to Pink Tutu Rome #984 - buckle up, we're going to be exploring the Eternal City, pink tutu style.
I arrived in Rome this past weekend after a gloriously sunny train journey from Milan (more on that fabulously fashionable city next week, promise!). The train ride was my favourite part of the trip – you get to really see the landscape, take in the scenery and feel the wind in your hair, it's a real escape. As I said, the journey was very much about the outfits too! My travelling tutu, a floaty blush pink masterpiece, complete with sparkling pink diamantes, was perfect for the train. You should see the looks I was getting on the journey! It felt like a glamorous Parisian fashion show, which, let's be honest, is a very fitting vibe for a train trip in Europe, don't you think?
Now, about my darling Rome, this magical place is a dream come true! From the majestic Colosseum to the awe-inspiring Pantheon, from the breathtaking Trevi Fountain to the delicious delights of the food stalls – everything here is enchanting! Even the pigeon that attempted to steal my chocolate gelato was utterly charming.
It seems impossible to truly explain the vibrant beauty of this ancient city. The atmosphere here is truly electric. Rome’s heart is a melting pot of ancient history and modern hustle and bustle – think history textbooks, but with a shot of espresso! Even if it's the first time you see it, there's a familiar feeling about it, a “I've been here before” feeling that's really hard to explain. I think maybe everyone has some Roman history swirling around their genes!
On the day this post is live, my darling Rome has sprung a glorious surprise upon me - sunshine! Today’s sky is a perfect shade of periwinkle, and the Romans, bless their souls, have filled every terrace and piazza with tables brimming with aromatic coffee, fresh, crusty bread, and a myriad of pasta dishes. Even I, the queen of the Pink Tutu, can’t resist the call of a proper Roman feast!
Speaking of which, I must share some highlights from my journey. A truly momentous moment came yesterday when I was on the hunt for the perfect Italian pink tutu. Imagine, my heart leapt for joy when I discovered this charming boutique, a treasure trove of lace and velvet! The shopkeeper was so helpful – he understood my pink tutu quest with an almost telepathic connection! We spent ages sifting through bows and frills and I left the shop feeling like a queen ready for the ultimate Italian dance-off! (My new tutu even has little matching shoes – adorable!)
Oh, and another memory that will be etched on my heart for eternity, was the impromptu ballet class I attended. The teacher, a passionate maestro, saw me in my tutu (can you ever be too overdressed for ballet class?! I think not.) and invited me to join the class. The energy in that studio was incredible – I swear it must have been fuelled by that delicious Roman coffee I had just sipped! I couldn’t understand a single word the maestro was saying, but as soon as he started to dance, my inner ballerina kicked in! It felt like the greatest lesson of my life, as the history of Italy seemed to weave its magic into each pirouette and arabesque. I can’t wait to add my new Rome ballet moves to my repertoire!
This blog wouldn't be complete without my favourite Roman treats. From creamy, gelato (always in a cone, the real Italians know!), to fresh bread topped with melt-in-your-mouth cheeses, to those fragrant espresso cups and all the exquisite wines. It’s true – food is my biggest weakness! My suitcase already has an entire corner devoted to delicious foodie finds – it will probably be more clothes than souvenirs in the end!
The real beauty of Rome isn’t just its beauty or even its incredible food – it's about the people, and how the history of this place is still alive in their hearts and laughter. Everyone I meet is full of charisma, like they’re starring in a Federico Fellini film. Their generosity of spirit and warmth have blown me away. Even though I’m only in Rome for a few days, this experience has made me realize how we're all connected through history, tradition, and of course, a shared passion for good food.
So there you have it, another chapter in my Pink Tutu Rome adventure. Rome is a place that is both charming and elegant, full of the energy of a city bursting at its seams, with a vibrant heart of gold. It's a place where dreams can really take flight, and as always, it’s a reminder to embrace the beauty of every moment. Until next week! Ciao for now!
