Ciao bella!
Well, here I am, back in the Eternal City! I just love Rome - the history, the food, the atmosphere, everything! And this time I'm exploring with a new friend - my fabulous pink tutu, of course! 😉 It's just a bit of a shame the weather isn't playing ball. I’ve got to be honest, it's a bit chilly and a tad grey. But my pink tutu is radiating such joy and positivity that I can't help but smile. That’s what a good pink tutu does, you know, it lifts your spirits, whatever the weather.
It's all been a bit hectic getting here! My trip is funded by performances - I performed a graceful and sparkling interpretation of “The Dying Swan” at the Derbyshire Arts Centre last week and that earned me just enough for this lovely Italian adventure! Of course, I managed to squeeze in some fun, ballet-themed clothes shopping in between rehearsals. Found the perfect ruffled pink skirt - totally inspired by one of the dancers at the Royal Opera House (they are my ultimate fashion inspiration!), and it's already been snapped up for some fabulous "street-style" photos - watch this space!
I’m going to take you through everything I’ve seen today… It's a bit of a whirlwind, I’ve got to tell you, this Rome thing, and I'm here to spread the love (and my love of pink, obviously!).
My Pink Tutu’s Roman Holiday!
First stop? The Trevi Fountain! There's something magical about this place. Everyone was so happy throwing coins in and wishing, and for once I was “with” the tourists, not a little self-conscious like usual. There's something so whimsical and romantic about throwing a coin over your shoulder and hoping to come back! Let’s just say I will be coming back to this city, hopefully in a pink tutu!
And oh my, did I mention the ice-cream? Rome seems to be one big celebration of all things delicious! This afternoon, my favourite spot was this little gelato stall nestled amongst the shops just a stone's throw from the Pantheon. It’s just around the corner from this fantastic antique market - full of vintage fashion treasures! I couldn't help but pick up a delicate little beaded bag and some absolutely stunning vintage earrings to give my pink tutu the finishing touch! It was a huge score and perfect for my glamorous night-time escapades! Speaking of which...
Viva la Romanza
Later this evening, we're going to one of the biggest and most important events in my blog’s history – a magical evening at the Rome Opera House! I am SO excited to experience the majesty of La Scala. They say it’s like walking back into a scene from La Bohème. Honestly, how utterly divine and absolutely glamorous! To add a dash of even more glamor to my evening look I’m going to accessorise with some gorgeous silver diamante bracelets. Now that’s a ballet inspired look that can take you from daytime chic to evening romance - perfectly in line with this city’s beautiful heritage, isn't it? You know me, I’ve gotta make a grand entrance… the opera audience better be ready for some pink!
I'm planning to take some fab pictures for my blog at the Opera House too. Can't wait to share them! Maybe the performance will even inspire a new ballet routine, all about this fabulous city - just wait for the “Romanza Rose” debut next month, you can bet on that!
### Pink is More Than a Colour
Rome really is making my dreams come true… But the truth is, it's all because of the pink tutu!
Every day is an adventure in a pink tutu. It really does make a statement, everywhere I go!
This whole pink tutu adventure has taught me to be bolder and braver, to live life with passion and to always have a bit of fun with it all - and that’s exactly what Rome is doing! It’s a city with a heart as big as a ballerina's dream!
Just wait until I share the details of my night at the La Scala Opera House in tomorrow's blog post! Can't wait! You all know, I am definitely going to have a wonderful evening...

P.S Any fashionistas or ballet fans visiting Rome should check out the Musei Capitolini, just a short walk from the Pantheon, the beautiful marble statues would have looked fabulous in their pink tutus! And do you know what? This morning I found the most perfect tutu fabric in this cute little shop by the Trevi fountain! Of course, I bought it immediately... I may be adding a “Rome Rose” pink tutu to my repertoire soon. Just you wait! I’ll be sharing photos in my next post… Ciao!
