Pink Tutu Rome #988: La Dolce Vita in a Tutu!

Ciao Bella! It's Emma here, reporting live from the Eternal City - Rome, Italy! As you all know, Wednesdays are for my Roman adventures, and today I'm buzzing with excitement to share a week jam-packed with Italian delights!

Now, I'm not saying I was wearing my pink tutu on the train journey from Derby, England, to Rome, but I wouldn't be opposed to the idea! 😉 Trains are just so romantic, you know? There's something utterly enchanting about chugging along through different landscapes, meeting new people, and embracing the journey. But Rome? Oh, Rome is just…breathtaking!

Shopping and Sipping

Arriving in Rome felt like stepping into a dream, even if it was one involving a hefty amount of luggage! My first mission? A little retail therapy! We girls need our wardrobe top-ups, right? Luckily, Rome's shopping streets are practically designed for tutus and anything pink!

I found myself at Via Condotti, one of the most famous shopping streets in the world. My eyes were like a hungry butterfly, flitting from exquisite displays of haute couture to the sleekest leather handbags and designer shoes. But I confess, a small part of me was itching to waltz down the cobblestones in a dazzling, tulle masterpiece! Maybe tomorrow…

My stomach decided it had its own agenda - a hunger for the most delicious pasta I had ever encountered! Luckily, a cute trattoria was right there, calling out to me with its heavenly aromas of garlic, herbs, and cheesy goodness. I ordered the gnocchi and the waiter seemed to melt a little when I asked for extra parmesan. He must have thought I was a real foodie, which honestly, I might be. 😉

Under the Tuscan Sun

Day two in Rome and the sun was shining, begging us to explore its hidden treasures. The Colosseum was exactly as awe-inspiring as the photos - colossal and a little scary, which always makes for a good day! Then it was off to the Trevi Fountain. My fellow travellers were busy tossing coins into the fountain for a wish, but I confess I was more focused on finding the perfect spot to take a photo. With a tutu!

Lunch was a picnic by the River Tiber. It felt so decadent, eating crusty bread and local cheeses on the riverbank, all the while being serenaded by the most charming street musician. There’s just something magical about the energy here, you know? It’s in the cobbled streets, the ancient architecture, the scent of espresso in the air.

The evenings have been a flurry of ballet brilliance! I found myself caught up in the exquisite storytelling of "Romeo and Juliet" at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. The costumes were so dramatic and romantic, they inspired a whole outfit idea - pink tutu and Juliet-inspired sleeves? I could already feel the twinkle in my toes, ready for some ballet classes here!

The Magic of Ballet

You guys know how much I love ballet! So I'm delighted to say I found the most charming ballet studio in Rome's trendy Trastevere neighborhood. It's this cute, little place tucked away in a courtyard. And let me tell you, they have the most stunning teacher - her graceful movements are just mesmerising! I even caught myself wondering if a ballet career was still on the cards for this little Pink Tutu! 😉

The lessons have been truly inspiring! Seeing fellow dancers express their artistry through their movements, with the iconic backdrop of Rome – it just doesn't get more magical.

Rome truly lives up to its name as the Eternal City. Each turn of the street unveils a breathtaking vista, every taste a symphony of flavours, every performance an eruption of emotions. And, to be honest, I can’t imagine a more beautiful place to be wearing my pink tutu.

Catch you all next Wednesday!

Love,

Emma www.pink-tutu.com
