Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1007 – The Eternal City’s Charm in a Tutu 🩰🇮🇹
Ciao, darlings!
It’s Wednesday again, which means a brand new Pink Tutu post! This week, I’m bringing you all the fabulousness of Rome, the Eternal City! I know, I know, you're probably wondering what a pink tutu does in Rome, but trust me, darling, this trip has been absolutely magical.
Firstly, a massive thank you to everyone who's been following my "Rome Adventures" on Instagram and Twitter! Your love and support are always a major source of motivation, especially when you’re strutting through the Colosseum in a tutu. 😄
This Rome trip is part of my "Ballet and Beyond" series. I’m fortunate to earn my living by performing at stunning ballet shows, which allows me to travel the world. And this week, my ballet adventures took me to the very heart of Italy, and my heart just melted like a scoop of the most delicious gelato!
The Journey:
Rome is one of those places that I've always dreamed of visiting, and, thanks to my latest ballet engagement, this dream finally came true.
Oh, and did I mention I love trains? So naturally, I took the train from my little corner of Derbyshire to Rome. It was like something out of a classic Italian movie: romantic, chic, and of course, stylishly pink. It just had to be!
My Tutu Inspiration:
Now, I know, Rome isn't necessarily the most "tutu-friendly" city, but darling, that's where the real magic happens! I was determined to find my way of expressing my inner tutu princess in the heart of this ancient metropolis. I'm all about the power of a statement, and a pink tutu, as you all know, is my signature statement.
Rome’s Hidden Tutu Gems:
After arriving in the Eternal City, the first thing I had to do, naturally, was to take a classic pink tutu photo shoot! I found the most beautiful little square, a secret little haven tucked away in the middle of Rome, and there, with a burst of pink tulle, I captured the essence of Rome in my signature way.
Next on the itinerary was shopping, because every true fashionista knows Rome has it all. From designer boutiques to charming vintage shops, this city is a haven for the sartorially savvy.
For my tutu-inspired look, I found the most incredible little store packed full of vintage and pre-loved accessories. This is my absolute favourite type of shopping – discovering hidden treasures and styling them in my own unique way!
And while I was shopping, the cutest Italian waiter walked by and said, "Your tutu is fantastic, my lady! Such colour!" It warmed my heart, you know? To spread some joy and sunshine in such a traditional and elegant city. I can’t tell you how amazing it feels to bring some of my little bit of Derbyshire to this wonderful city!
A Taste of the City:
Of course, a trip to Rome is not complete without a taste of its amazing food. The gelato was just out of this world – I had so many scoops, and every one was divine! The pasta dishes, the freshly baked bread, even the coffee was pure magic! Every sense was awakened with authentic Italian charm, from the flavours to the sounds and the sights.
I was lucky enough to discover a tiny trattoria hidden away down a cobbled street, a haven of authenticity and traditional Italian dishes. Imagine my surprise when a lovely waiter came to greet me with, "I adore your tutu!" I was overwhelmed – the positive response I receive from people wearing tutus always touches me!
Ballet in Rome:
On a cultural note, Rome's ballet scene is flourishing. I found out that there are several prestigious ballet companies and schools in Rome, and I was so eager to experience the local ballet scene!
One evening, I went to the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the national opera house, to see a performance of “Swan Lake”. I can honestly say that this was one of the most beautiful ballet productions I have ever seen, and the passion and technical brilliance of the dancers was truly awe-inspiring. Of course, it's always fantastic to be in the presence of great art, but it is always particularly thrilling to be amongst fellow ballet enthusiasts who are just as passionate about this art as I am.
Tutu-licious Tips for Rome:
If you're planning a trip to Rome, darling, you've come to the right place. Here are some tips from a pink tutu-wearing explorer:
Take a walk along the banks of the River Tiber. The views are spectacular and you can find some lovely little cafes tucked away where you can grab a delicious pastry and people-watch.
Visit the Vatican City: It’s awe-inspiring. Imagine my excitement at getting to walk into a giant church that was decorated like a palace – it's the perfect spot to feel glamorous and empowered!
Treat yourself to a pasta dish, freshly made at an authentic Roman trattoria. Be sure to sample a range of Roman delights, but I personally find their cheeses absolutely irresistible.
Take a scooter tour to experience the true charm of Rome! You can also take a guided tour around the Roman Colosseum and forum - just imagine my delight at standing where the gladiators once battled!
Throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain: For those of you who haven’t experienced it, I swear there is something magically powerful about this fountain! It's definitely worth a visit to try your luck.
From the Colosseum to the Trevi Fountain, I can confidently say that Rome exceeded every single expectation. It's a vibrant city with history, beauty, culture and an undeniable charm.
And what better way to enjoy this incredible city than by spreading joy and sunshine in my pink tutu?
I am absolutely smitten with this beautiful city, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit! Maybe I’ll find another hidden spot where I can share a bit of pink tutu magic? Or perhaps a ballet school where I can join the students in their dance class? You never know, darling!
Don't forget to check out my Pink Tutu Rome vlog coming up next week!
Until next time, remember to embrace your inner princess! I'd love to see you all sporting pink tutus soon!
