Pink Tutu Rome #1012: Ciao Bella!
Well, darlings, it's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu blog post, and guess where I am? drumroll
That's right, Rome! The Eternal City, a place that’s been on my wish list for absolutely ages, and finally, I'm here, tutu twirling through the ancient cobbled streets.
Now, you might be wondering, how does a Derbyshire girl get all the way to Rome? Well, I've always believed that dreams are just wishes waiting to happen. This week, I travelled by train, which is just the best way to go when you've got a pink tutu and lots of ballet-themed luggage. I always make a beeline for the First Class carriage, not just for the comfort, but because let’s be honest, we deserve a touch of luxury when we're in this lovely shade of pink, right?
A Touch of Pink in Rome
I'm here on a strictly ballet mission: the chance to see a special performance by the Rome Opera Ballet. I was mesmerized by the talent of the dancers, their incredible moves taking my breath away. It made me feel so proud of myself - after all, I have a good excuse to practise every day! I even spotted a gorgeous ballet dancer who looked divine in a bright pink costume! Just the inspiration I needed, of course, to see if there were any pink tutus on sale in the area. 😉
The Art of Shopping in Rome
Speaking of which, I’ve spent the last few days exploring this fashion paradise. Rome has got everything: leather, cashmere, jewellery…and even some gorgeous shoes in beautiful pink shades! There's even a whole street called Via dei Condotti with the most exclusive designer shops, each one prettier than the last! I know you'll love my Pink Tutu outfit updates - follow me on Instagram @EmmaPinkTutu for daily outfit inspiration.
I must confess I bought some beautiful scarves (it’s so important to accessorize a pink tutu!), a new pair of bright pink ballet flats that are so comfy for long days of exploring, and…oh my, can you believe it? I found the most amazing pink silk dress at a hidden treasure of a vintage boutique. Let’s just say it will be getting pride of place at my next ballet performance, a show I’m performing at a lovely little theatre just outside of Rome later this week! It's going to be the perfect ensemble for a ballet dancer who wants to make a splash, and you know I never let a little bit of pink (or a whole lot!) go to waste.
Exploring Rome’s Ancient Charm
But enough about pink for a minute (you know, it's a rare thing to have too much!) – there's just so much to see in this fabulous city! The Colosseum! The Pantheon! The Trevi Fountain! Oh, and all those amazing hidden Roman squares filled with delicious pasta-making aromas… just divine.
I spent a morning exploring the Pantheon, which is just incredible - so big, so grand, so beautiful. I loved the soft light filtering through the massive hole in the dome, and of course, the grandest pink tutu wouldn't have been out of place among the stunning sculptures!
The Sweet Side of Rome
Now, let's talk about gelato, darling! As you might guess, I couldn’t resist sampling the local delights, and let me tell you, it is so good, I’m ready to start an all-pink gelato stall on the promenade of Via dei Condotti just to share it with everyone!
The Roman Dream
As my adventure here comes to an end (too soon!), I'm so full of life and happiness. You see, Rome really is a place that stays with you. It's all about the stories of the past, the magic of the present, and the bright future waiting to be painted on the canvas of the next Roman day. And, as the pink tutu would have it, my Roman journey wouldn't be complete without finding a beautiful rose garden. That gentle aroma of blooming roses mixed with a bit of sweet gelato was magical.
My Inspiration for You
You see, you don’t have to wear a pink tutu to experience this incredible magic. The pink tutu for me is just a reminder that we should be embracing a life of creativity, passion and a touch of fun - whatever it may be! So, if you're looking for a destination that’s full of life and wonder, well then, I strongly suggest you put Rome on your own pink tutu list!
Ciao Bella and Happy Wednesday,
Emma Pink Tutu
