Ciao Bella!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu adventure, this time from the heart of Rome! After a whirlwind trip across Europe by train ā and I absolutely adore travelling by train, itās so much more romantic and allows you to see the countryside whizzing by! ā Iām finally in the Eternal City.
I confess, Rome was a bit daunting at first. It's HUGE! The streets are a maze of cobblestone and ancient wonders, and even finding the little cafe where I had breakfast took a lot of map reading! But then again, wouldnāt it be boring if everything was always easy? The charm of the unexpected makes for the best memories, and discovering something new every corner I turn is half the fun!
My trip to Italy was carefully planned, fuelled by months of browsing Italian fashion magazines, pin boards overflowing with Renaissance era imagery and watching anything remotely to do with the ballet in Rome ā I have an embarrassing amount of YouTube tabs open about it now, but I'm obsessed! I've spent months saving up for this trip and I'm going to make the most of every second!
I'm starting with a beautiful apartment I found nestled right in the heart of Rome. The street is just lovely; there are blooming geraniums spilling out of every window box, quaint little trattorias and cobblestone alleyways that lead to who-knows-where! It's the perfect setting to get my creative juices flowing and put together a whole host of #PinkTutu looks.
Speaking of looks, you wouldn't believe how many pink outfits Iāve brought along for the trip. I couldn't resist grabbing the most gorgeous pink sequin dress, perfect for a night out at the opera or a glamorous stroll through the Piazza Navona ā the perfect place to take in the stunning architecture and people-watch! Iāve also picked out a vintage lace pink blouse with ruffled sleeves that I plan to wear with my favourite grey cigarette trousers for a touch of old Hollywood glamour ā absolutely divine!
Rome, with its stunning Baroque architecture and beautiful gardens, is perfect for striking dramatic poses ā I might have caused a stir or two amongst the pigeons in the Pantheon when I whipped out a twirl, but honestly, I can't help but express myself! I was channeling that beautiful āSwan Lakeā third act grand finale feeling.
Now, you all know that a trip isnāt complete without indulging in the local culture ā and in Rome, that means ballet! Today I had the most delightful treat; I saw a captivating performance at the Teatro dellāOpera di Roma. They are hosting a spectacular production of Tchaikovskyās āSleeping Beautyā, and let me tell you, I've been in a dream world ever since!
I'll never tire of those grand classical ballet productions, so I am determined to catch a few more performances during my stay here. Imagine all the beautiful pink tutu costumes on the stage, dancing their way through the enchanting stories ā I'm in absolute heaven!
Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without some shopping therapy. And believe me, I am on a mission to find some treasures that scream "Pink Tutu Rome"! I can already imagine the joy of finding some hand-painted silk scarves with floral motifs for a dramatic touch of Italian elegance. Then thereās the prospect of trawling through the countless designer shops, just hoping to discover that elusive pink satin evening bag that perfectly matches my dazzling sequin dress!
It wouldn't be Pink Tutu if I wasnāt keeping a record of all my glamorous finds ā donāt worry, Iāll share plenty of photos in my next blog post! And to top it all off, I even snagged the most fabulous, hand-made pink tulle ballerina tutu in the prettiest pastel shades - it's like a tiny ballet dream! I just know it's going to be the perfect addition to my #PinkTutuRome Instagram feed!
Rome, youāre a real charmer, and I am absolutely besotted with you. Your streets are full of artistic inspiration, and your people are as passionate as the artists who live here! From the gelato that melts in your mouth to the warm smiles of the locals, this city has already won a piece of my heart!
