This Wednesday, December 10th, marked another amazing milestone on my Roman adventure. My mornings have become a whirlwind of exploring, fueled by my trusty cappuccinos and perfectly crisp croissant from the adorable little bakery on my street. I swear, I could get used to this every day! 🥐☕
Discovering the Soul of Rome
The first stop on my agenda was a pilgrimage to the Trevi Fountain. It's everything you imagine, and even more spectacular in person. Imagine: the shimmering sun reflecting off the water, the baroque beauty of the fountain, and all the excitement of watching tourists throwing their coins into the water, wishing for their dream Italian escape. 🇮🇹💰 It's such a buzz!
From there, I strolled through the charming, narrow streets of the historic centre. It's like stepping back in time, with cobblestones under your feet, ancient buildings towering above, and hidden courtyards brimming with the sweet scent of fresh basil. Every corner revealed another breathtaking sight. Honestly, the city just explodes with history! It's fascinating! I've learnt so much this week about the Colosseum and the history of the Roman Empire, the people who have come and gone before. It feels like time itself is dancing a beautiful, complicated ballet, one that we can never quite fully comprehend, but which we can try to understand and admire and learn from.
Shopping Spree in Paradise!
No Roman adventure is complete without a serious shopping spree. Now, I'm not talking about just any shop. I'm talking the kind of shops that make your heart flutter with excitement. 🛍️Think stunning leather goods, delicate silk scarves, and elegant lace that begs to be twirled. And guess what? I found it all! 🤩
I've got to confess, my bag is getting a little heavier with each purchase, but the way I see it, these treasures will keep me warm back in Derbyshire through those long winter nights. And who doesn't love a souvenir of a wonderful holiday?
The Ballet Connection:
Of course, no blog post from me is complete without a mention of my ballet world! Rome doesn't disappoint in the realm of performing arts. I caught a beautiful ballet performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma on Saturday night - an absolutely breathtaking production of 'The Nutcracker'! 🎄 The talent, the stage design, the emotion, it was absolutely magical.
Then on Monday I squeezed in a ballet class at a beautiful dance studio near the Pantheon. I love to pop in to different studios wherever I travel, it's such a great way to experience the different teaching styles and of course meet local dancers. It's so much fun! And of course, it always makes me want to spin even faster in my tutu when I'm back at home.
Pink Tutu Magic
And of course, no visit to the heart of Europe could be complete without donning my pink tutu, even if only for a few snaps! 🇮🇹🎀 My mission is to spread the magic of the tutu to every corner of the world.
