Pink Tutu Rome: A Ballerina's Roman Holiday (Post #1050)

Ciao, darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu adventure. And this week, I'm waltzing my way through the Eternal City โ€“ Rome!

I know what you're thinking: "Emma, Rome? Aren't you a bit obsessed with Paris?" Well, yes, the City of Lights holds a special place in my heart, but I have to admit, Rome is giving it a serious run for its money. There's an air of history here, a sense of romance, a vibrancy that makes even the most jaded soul come alive. Plus, the food? Mamma mia!

I arrived last Friday, fresh off a glorious train ride from Florence (I can't get enough of European train travel! It's so glamorous and relaxing). As soon as I stepped onto the platform at Roma Termini station, I was struck by the energy of the city. People rushing, chattering, laughing, and just living life to the fullest.

Of course, no trip to Rome is complete without a visit to the Colosseum. Walking through the ancient amphitheater was like stepping back in time. I could almost hear the roar of the crowd, the clash of swords, the grunts of gladiators battling for their lives. It was thrilling, terrifying, and absolutely breathtaking all at the same time.

Speaking of breathtaking, my apartment is right in the heart of the Trastevere neighborhood โ€“ a charming labyrinth of cobblestone streets, lively trattorias, and chic boutiques. My balcony overlooks the Tiber River, where I often sip my morning espresso while watching the world go by.

Now, I know you're all wondering โ€“ where's the pink tutu in all of this? Well, Rome hasn't exactly been my best "tutu town" so far, darling. I've had to swap my tulle for a more practical look: think flowing floral skirts, cute jumpsuits, and chic linen dresses, all with a touch of pink, of course. I've actually been having so much fun trying on new outfits! Rome has this fabulous vintage vibe, which I absolutely adore.

Here's a little glimpse into my Roman escapades:

Monday: My first full day in Rome began with a ballet class at the Academia Nazionale di Danza. They even had a little pink tutu hanging on the door for me. Iโ€™m no professional dancer, but I try my best! After the class, I treated myself to a delectable lunch at a tiny cafe tucked away on a backstreet. I think I had the most incredible carbonara โ€“ so creamy and flavorful!

Tuesday: It was time for some cultural immersion! I took a long, lazy stroll through the ancient ruins of the Roman Forum, marveling at the crumbling arches and columns, all overgrown with wild vines and wildflowers. It was such a beautiful sight! After a relaxing picnic by the Fontana di Trevi (a perfect spot for wishing upon a star!), I finally donned my favorite pink tulle skirt and headed to a performance at the Teatro dell'Opera. The ballet was โ€œSwan Lake,โ€ and the choreography was absolutely captivating. I couldnโ€™t stop swooning! The music, the costumes, the dancing โ€“ it was just magic. Afterwards, I found the most beautiful flower stall and treated myself to a fragrant rose to carry with me.

Wednesday: Today is all about shopping! The city is bursting with designer boutiques and vintage shops, each more unique than the last. I have my sights set on finding a pair of authentic Italian leather shoes โ€“ they have the most exquisite quality! I'm also hoping to stumble upon a gorgeous pink dress for my next ballet performance โ€“ you can always count on a little pink to make an entrance!

Thursday: Another beautiful day! I'm starting the day with a pasta making class at a small, family-run restaurant โ€“ so much fun to learn from the locals. This evening, itโ€™s a wine tour! I can't wait to explore the vineyards of the Roman countryside. Italy's wines are legendary!

Friday: A true Roman foodie day โ€“ breakfast at a pastry shop (Iโ€™ve had my fair share of cornetti), a pizza tasting tour at various famous pizzerias throughout the day, and ending with a delicious seafood dinner on a rooftop terrace overlooking the city โ€“ this city never ceases to amaze me!

So there you have it, darling! My first few days in the Eternal City. As you can see, it's been quite an adventure so far โ€“ filled with culture, cuisine, and of course, a dash of Pink Tutu magic.

I'm only here for a few more days, but I can't wait to see what this beautiful city throws my way. Maybe I'll find myself doing some spontaneous street dancing in the Piazza Navona, or even rocking a pink tutu on a vespa. Who knows?! Anything is possible in Rome!

Remember to check back in next Wednesday for more updates on my Pink Tutu Rome adventures, darling.

Until next time, stay sparkly!
