Pink Tutu Rome: #1051 – Ciao Bella, Roma!
Hello lovelies!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a fresh new #PinkTutuRome post! I'm finally here, in the heart of Italy, in the fabulous, fashion-forward, and frankly divine city of Rome!
This week has been a whirlwind of excitement. I've travelled by train all the way from Derbyshire – and what a glorious journey it was. I swear the countryside got more stunning with every mile. Rolling green hills, charming villages, and little Italian cafes with tables spilling onto the cobblestone streets. You could smell the freshly baked bread, and the sun was shining... It truly felt like something out of a film.
Oh, and did I mention the train? I mean, seriously! I absolutely love travelling by train. It gives you the chance to properly soak in the scenery and the ambience, unlike being locked in a car, or whizzing through the sky in a plane.
And the train itself? It was an elegant beauty! Red plush velvet seats, beautiful panoramic windows and even a cute little bistro wagon selling pasta and Prosecco – what more could you ask for? I've always felt a connection to trains – and I wouldn’t be surprised if the #PinkTutuRome blog started a full-blown, pink-tutu clad, rail-way themed fashion phenomenon. We all know it's just a matter of time!
Right, but enough about the journey – I'm here now! Rome is amazing. I swear it's as though a Roman statue came alive, with all its history, glamour, and charm. You walk down the streets, and you can practically hear echoes of gladiators fighting, emperors ruling, and Renaissance artists breathing life into their creations. The streets are cobbled and quaint, the buildings are majestic, the sunshine is just a touch warmer – this city has it all! And of course, as always, my bright pink tutu is a hit. It just fits in perfectly with this beautiful chaos.
Let me give you a quick run down of how my week has unfolded so far...
Tuesday
I arrived late afternoon, and straight away checked into a gorgeous little hotel, just steps away from the Trevi Fountain! It was a bit of a splurge (I really needed a good hot shower after the train ride!), but I'm feeling extra pampered tonight. There’s just something about a European hotel.
Later, I had my first proper meal. You know, after the obligatory Nutella crepe right off the train (because it was that kind of day!)... But this dinner was all about Roman cuisine! My favourite? The Carbonara! I just cannot resist pasta smothered in creamy egg sauce with guanciale, parmesan cheese and black pepper! I could probably eat it every day (maybe without the black pepper for this delicate ballet girl's digestive system). But honestly, let's be honest, I think it's just an excuse for me to justify having it every day! It’s truly a food group – just ask my hairdresser!
The highlight of my evening? Well, that would have to be strolling by the Trevi Fountain. I can already imagine this is going to be a favourite spot. I took a gorgeous photo – imagine a pink tutu shimmering under the moonlight – just beautiful! I can't wait to share it with all of you.
Wednesday
Today’s the big one, it’s Wednesday, and we all know what that means... #PinkTutuRome blog post!
I am, of course, writing from the fabulous Pink Tutu headquarters. Now, before I get too carried away… I am going to let you in on a secret... Drum roll please! I've decided that #PinkTutuRome will be much more than a blog. I’m setting up an online community - a safe space for all you fashionistas and ballet fanatics! Imagine – a place for us to share our outfits, dance moves, travel experiences, and… you guessed it… PINK TUTUS! I’ll let you know more about it all soon. But I just had to give you a little teaser… you guys deserve to know!
My day began with a delectable cappuccino and croissant. Now, let’s just be clear, for someone like myself, there’s no such thing as just a regular cappuccino. A true Pink Tutu cappuccino has to be perfect – foamy and rich, with just the right amount of chocolate sprinkled on top! This one was simply perfection!
I then set off on a tour of Rome. Oh my god, guys. Colosseum – I swear you could just hear the roar of the crowd! You can still feel the history – the weight of battles, triumphs, and betrayals…it’s enough to send shivers down your spine. Honestly, the entire city is like that! You can’t go ten steps without bumping into an amazing monument or beautiful building… This city is truly like no other.
Later, I saw a show at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma – breathtaking! Fantastique. The performers were extraordinary, and their dancing just blew me away. I sat there captivated, my tutu twirling as if mesmerised by the sheer magic of it all.
After the show, I wandered through the heart of the city – shopping and browsing. Honestly, I might have overdone it slightly on the shopping…but who’s judging! Just you wait until you see what I have to show you in my next #PinkTutuRome post! Rome has got some serious style!
Thursday
Up bright and early, fuelled by a strong cappuccino and a croissant that could only be described as "extra" - a bit of a pink tutu must – and heading straight to a dance studio near the Vatican! Let’s just say this city does ballet – you just know it! They must have hundreds of studios! There’s something about the Italians – they have that natural flair! They have that inherent ‘je ne sais quoi’ that takes pink tutu dancing to another level.
It was an amazing ballet class, in the middle of this beautiful old city! They were quite traditional – the studio had those classic wooden barres! My pink tutu got some serious work!
After my class, I had to see the Vatican Museums! This was my moment to truly channel my pink tutu side. The Vatican, the centre of the Catholic world. Oh, the opulence… the art!
Friday
It was an absolutely beautiful day here. Rome at sunset… something to write home about, or as in my case, blog about. I went for a romantic stroll along the Tiber River. And guess who joined me? Yup, that’s right, my pink tutu. What could be better than strolling by the water under a sky painted with soft, pastel shades – pink of course, and blue, orange and everything in-between? Perfection.
After that, I took a cooking class! My tutu (naturally) was there as my chaperone – I don't leave the house without it, you know me! Now, when I say ‘cooking’... it wasn't exactly The Great British Bake Off! More like Italian cooking school! My first attempt at making authentic pasta dough…. Let’s just say there’s more of my pink tutu left to wear after it was done than pasta! But even if my cooking wasn't a success, the lesson was fun – we had prosecco! And anyway, let’s be honest, I could have just ordered a slice of pizza!
I wrapped up the night at a classical concert – more magic in the heart of this beautiful city! I think this city has some real musical history – and don’t we all love the ballet! It really fits pink tutu themes!
I hope you all have a wonderful week. I have such a busy week ahead. So lots more #PinkTutuRome adventures to come!
Ciao bella!
