Pink Tutu Rome #1059: Under the Roman Sun ☀️🩰
Ciao bella! 👋 It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu travel blog! This week, I'm bursting with excitement to share my adventures in the Eternal City – Rome, Italy! As I write this, the warm Roman sun is filtering through my hotel window, painting the walls with a beautiful golden hue.
Let me paint you a picture: I'm sitting here, in a gorgeous little boutique hotel just a hop and skip from the Colosseum. My tutu, a dreamy shade of baby pink, is hanging in the closet, ready for the evening. Tonight, I'm heading to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma to watch a stunning ballet performance - oh, I can barely contain myself! 🩰
Getting Here:
As always, I chose the trusty train to bring me to the heart of Rome. It's my favourite mode of transport, so civilised and relaxing, giving me time to people-watch and enjoy the changing landscapes. It truly takes me back to those enchanting fairytales from my childhood where princes and princesses journeyed by train. This trip, the journey was just as lovely as the destination, the sun-dappled countryside stretching out in a beautiful panorama from the carriage window.
My First Day:
Once I arrived in Rome, the energy was electric! I felt like a little ballerina on pointe, the cobblestone streets calling to me to dance! My first day was spent simply soaking up the atmosphere. I strolled through the beautiful streets, admired the majestic Roman Forum, and climbed to the top of the Spanish Steps (wearing a very chic pair of rose-gold wedges, naturally). Every corner held a new wonder, from the imposing Pantheon to the charming little boutiques bursting with Italian fashion delights.
Fashion Inspiration:
I have to confess, I'm utterly smitten with Italian fashion. It's so chic and sophisticated, a mix of classic elegance with modern flair. My trip wouldn't be complete without a visit to some of the fabulous shops here! Yesterday, I spent a blissful afternoon trying on delicate lace dresses and shoes so stylish I could hardly believe it. I managed to pick up a beautiful pair of leather sandals that are the perfect shade of blush pink - oh, how I love a little bit of matching pink!
The Foodie Finds:
Let's be honest, Italian food is a symphony of flavours. Every mouthful is a taste of pure joy! I've already devoured my fair share of delectable pasta, pizza that would make even the most discerning gourmand swoon, and the most amazing gelato imaginable. I have a weakness for hazelnut, and it's almost a crime to be in Italy and not indulge in at least one gelato every single day!
The Power of Pink:
Now, you know I believe in the power of pink - it's truly the most vibrant, joyous colour in the world! I've spotted a few ladies around Rome sporting shades of pink in their attire, and it's truly delightful to see how everyone is embracing this amazing hue. One young woman in particular, had a beautiful pink fedora and a flowing maxi skirt - she really owned the look! I must confess, I'm a little bit jealous! I’m starting to see some pink-loving ladies around, which fills my heart with joy! It’s my aim in life to get everyone wearing a pink tutu - just imagine what a colourful world it would be!
Tonight's Ballet:
Oh, how I’ve been looking forward to this evening! Tonight, the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma is staging the breathtaking Swan Lake. I can hardly contain myself - the combination of a timeless classic and the beautiful setting will undoubtedly be spectacular. And of course, I'll be wearing my very special pink tutu for the occasion - this one, made from the finest tulle with delicate layers of feathers, was a custom design I created myself. I can’t wait to see how it looks under the theatre’s majestic chandelier!
A Little Piece of Derbyshire:
I've also been taking some time to think about my little patch of Derbyshire, back in England. I do miss it terribly sometimes, especially when I'm exploring places like Rome - the contrast couldn't be greater! But knowing my lovely village and the little ballerina school there is always there waiting for me keeps me going. It's where my ballet dreams started, and the place that gave me the confidence to wear my pink tutus everywhere, even on my adventures around the globe.
See You Next Week!
That's all for now, my dear Pink Tutu fans! But don't worry, I'll be back next Wednesday with even more tales from my Roman adventures. And maybe, just maybe, I'll have a new tutu design for you all!
Stay stylish and don't be afraid to wear pink! 💖
Until next time,
Emma
