#PinkTutuRome Wednesday 2015-12-16 exploring Rome Italy

Buongiorno from the Eternal City, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, Emma, bringing you the latest adventures from the heart of Rome, Italy. This week's Pink Tutu Rome journey, ladies and gents, is all about falling head over heels for this beautiful city, with its charming cobbled streets, mouth-watering gelato, and endless opportunities to embrace my inner fashionista.

Let's be honest, who doesn't love a bit of travel? Especially when you get to wear a pink tutu whilst exploring some of the most magnificent architecture and historical landmarks the world has to offer. This week, I'm going all out, combining my passion for ballet with my love for everything fabulous and exploring the beauty of Rome.

Now, I've heard it all before - "Rome? It's crowded, chaotic, and a bit touristy." To which I say, "Darling, those are the very reasons I love it!" The bustling markets, the vibrant squares buzzing with life, the impromptu street performances - it's all part of Rome's charm!

Before I tell you about the fantastic adventures I've been having this week, let me quickly fill you in on how I got here! Remember how I mentioned that I fund my travels through my ballet performances? Well, this week's journey started with a whirlwind weekend in Brighton. I performed in a charity gala on Friday, caught the 8.30pm train down to London on Saturday morning, hopped on the Eurostar and, ta-da! I arrived in Rome at midday on Sunday. Who said ballet couldn't be your passport to the world?

Right, where were we? Ah, yes! Rome. I landed in this city full of history and beauty ready to make some magical memories! And it hasn't disappointed one bit! I've been waltzing around cobbled streets, taking in the breathtaking sights like the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Trevi Fountain, each one more breathtaking than the last! Each location seemed like a set from an old black-and-white film, ready for the leading ballerina to make her grand entrance!

Naturally, I had to do a little ballet-inspired photoshoot at these iconic landmarks, capturing my pink tutu's grace against the timeless grandeur of Rome. I know you'll love them, so be sure to check out my Instagram later today!

Now, the city's beauty isn't limited to its architecture, my dears. The Italians truly have a knack for turning everything into an art form! From their delicious food to their beautifully curated fashion, the Roman aesthetic is something truly special. Oh, and did I mention the gelato? Every flavour you can dream of, and they're absolutely heavenly! It's not surprising that a local legend states the flavour of strawberry is meant to represent the lips of the Roman Goddess of love, Venus! I'd be remiss if I didn't take my usual photo op, twirling in my pink tutu next to a massive tub of gelato! I think the colours really complemented each other beautifully.

Rome, oh Rome, how I love you! It's a city that makes me feel utterly fabulous. Walking the streets, I felt like a ballerina from a Parisian film. All I needed was a pair of chic French heels and some Parisian jazz! My pink tutu is, naturally, a perfect accessory here in Rome. Everywhere I look, I see vibrant colours, intricate designs, and some of the most gorgeous fabrics imaginable. The Italian approach to fashion, I find, perfectly matches my love for pink, drama, and creating an eye-catching look.

One of the highlights of this week's trip, aside from indulging in all the scrumptious pastries (let's just say my ballerina physique might be needing a bit of extra training on my return to the UK), has been discovering the fashion treasures in Rome's hidden gem shops. Imagine the joy of finding a vintage dress with its own romantic history. There's a feeling of magic and an unspoken understanding between us that allows me to bring a touch of that Italian flair home to Derbyshire.

But Rome isn't all about old treasures, I can tell you! This city embraces fashion and is home to many top designer stores that would have a fellow fashionista like myself going into full-blown "pinch me, I must be dreaming" mode. Now, I may not be able to purchase a complete collection of designer threads, but simply browsing through them is pure bliss! Plus, a quick picture or two for Instagram helps to remind myself what I'm working towards. Perhaps my next big ballet gig could be a fashion show in Rome!

Speaking of ballet, let's get to the heart of this week's Pink Tutu adventures! Rome, as you might already know, is renowned for its arts scene, especially when it comes to opera and ballet. I spent last Saturday night completely captivated by a performance of "Giselle" at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. I have to say, the sheer talent on display left me feeling truly inspired!

From the delicate elegance of the prima ballerina to the power and passion of the male dancers, I was completely enthralled. Seeing such masterful storytelling through movement truly left a mark on me! It really was a night for a pink tutu wearing ballet enthusiast!

This week, I've fallen completely head over heels with the city of Rome. Not only does it have the most amazing history and a fashion scene to die for, but it's also bursting with the very things that light up my heart: creativity, culture, and of course, a sprinkle of magic.

I'll be heading back to Derbyshire on Sunday evening. But I'm already dreaming of when I can come back and see more of this spectacular city. The only question I'm asking is this, my dear pink tutu followers: who's coming with me?
