Pink Tutu Rome: #1078 - The Eternal City's Eternal Charm 🩰🇮🇹

Ciao Bella!

It's Emma, your favourite pink-tutu-wearing ballerina, back from the cobbled streets of Rome! This week's adventure? Exploring the Eternal City, naturally! The sun was shining, the air was crisp (despite being February!), and my pink tutu twirled with the energy of a thousand angels (okay, maybe not a thousand, but definitely a good number!)

This week's trip has been fuelled by the deliciousness of the Italian espresso (and, of course, a few extra calories spent on delectable gelato - it's all about balance, right?), a successful ballet performance in Florence, and the pure joy of discovering a new city.

So, let me tell you about Rome. From the first moment I stepped off the train (a gloriously sleek Italian one, no less, always a joy!) at Roma Termini, I felt a sense of history wash over me. It was an electrifying feeling that has stayed with me all week! You can't walk two paces without bumping into some magnificent ruins, breathtaking churches, or enchanting fountains – Rome is a walking, breathing history lesson!

But enough about the ancient wonders (for now, at least)! My journey started, as always, with a trip to my trusty pink suitcase, carefully packed with all my favourite pieces for a Roman adventure! It’s got to be all about the flow of movement for travel, darling. I decided on a cherry-red tulle skirt for day one, paired with a chic white crop top that showed off the delicate detailing of my favourite pink tutu. After all, every girl needs a little tutu in her life, don't you agree?

Fashion and Foodie Fun in Rome

Now, let’s be honest, Rome isn't just about history. This is a city bursting with vibrant colours, mouth-watering scents (especially from all those pizzerias!), and fashion that's bold and unique, much like my own wardrobe! From designer boutiques on Via Condotti to hidden vintage gems in Trastevere, Rome’s got a street style scene to rival the best. I must say, I was inspired by the colourful patterns and the mix-and-match attitudes of the Roman women. Even the grandmas rocked bold shades and fantastic jewelry!

Speaking of shopping, I just HAD to indulge in some local delicacies. Oh, the pasta! And the gelato! And the freshly baked bread? Heaven! Honestly, my darling, you haven't truly lived until you’ve sampled the creamy, smooth perfection of an authentic Italian gelato. I spent a glorious hour, well maybe two, deciding on my flavour (who can choose just one, right?). Strawberry and Nutella - the ultimate indulgence!

Let's Talk Fashion!

I’m planning a separate post dedicated to all my amazing finds from Rome’s boutiques and vintage shops. I think I might just be starting a "Roman Chic" section on my website! Oh, I do love finding stylish treasures to bring home and add to my collection. My pink wardrobe's getting rather large, but I always find space for one more pretty piece. And with such divine pink accents in every corner of this beautiful city, there's no way I could resist adding a touch of Roman inspiration to my own fashion world.

And then there's the Ballet...

On Tuesday, I visited Teatro dell'Opera di Roma – one of the most famous opera houses in the world, darling! Just thinking about it makes my toes twitch. This breathtaking theatre boasts intricate designs, luxurious seating, and an aura that’s just begging to be filled with the beauty of music and dance! They were holding a "Balletto Classico" (Classic Ballet) performance which was exquisite. Such artistry, such grace. It filled my soul with a quiet peace and joy that is unlike anything else.

I couldn’t resist stepping into a nearby dance studio, even if it was only for a little afternoon class. You see, it's a ballerina’s need! And what an experience! A real mix of ages and abilities – the passion for the art shone through, regardless of skill level. It made me feel so much more than just a pink-tutu-wearing girl – it reminded me why I love dancing and what a wonderful expression of life it is.

The Best Part of Travel? The People!

Honestly, the warmth and friendliness of the Romans is something special. Even though I don’t speak Italian, the locals greeted me with open smiles and generous kindness. And the little Italian children were just adorable! It makes me feel so lucky to be able to share my pink tutu love with the world, to dance in their beautiful city and discover so many new treasures, from antique shops to local cafes. Every experience, every person, every cobblestone street feels like a moment to capture in a dance!

Time to Catch the Train Home

I’ll be heading back to Derbyshire, England this weekend (yes, even we ballets need a break!). I'll definitely be reminiscing about the vibrant beauty and rich history of Rome. And, of course, I’ll be adding all my new, fashionable finds to my collection – after all, a girl can never have too many shoes, right?

Stay tuned for my next post, darlings! I'm thinking a Parisian pink-tutu adventure will be the next one on my agenda. See you next Wednesday!

Until then, wear your pink tutus loud and proud. It's the little things that make life more magical, after all.

Lots of Love, Emma 💕
