Pink Tutu Rome: #1077 – The Eternal City, Darling!

Buongiorno, lovelies! It’s Emma here, back from a whirlwind of a journey through the Eternal City itself: Rome! I’m absolutely buzzing about my adventures this week, and it’s all been wrapped up in the most delicious pink, of course!

You know me, always on the lookout for a bit of sparkle, a sprinkle of ballet magic, and a dash of pink. And let me tell you, Rome certainly didn’t disappoint! I had the pleasure of experiencing it all: the majestic sights, the tantalising tastes, the breathtaking fashion, and most importantly, the inspiring performances. And wouldn't you know it, this fabulous week happened to coincide with a whole heap of exciting events in Rome!

Now, my journey to this gorgeous city began with my favourite mode of travel: the train! It's truly a romantic way to see the countryside whizz by. The plush seats, the gentle swaying, the anticipation building as you get closer to your destination – all pure magic. I packed my trusty pink carry-on – perfect for fitting all my essential ballet shoes, tutu, and makeup! And you know what else fit in there? My trusty old ballet journal, of course. Filled with ideas for upcoming routines, outfits, and sketches for all things pink tutu! I even wrote down a list of every place I wanted to visit in Rome. There’s something truly liberating about travelling with just a carry-on.

Anyway, after that fab train journey, I found myself stepping into the vibrant energy of Rome’s Termini Station, surrounded by the sweet scent of freshly baked pastries and the rhythmic chirping of Italian sparrows. From there, I headed straight for the hotel. A truly divine haven decorated in pastel pinks, the perfect backdrop for all my instagrammable tutu shots! It’s amazing what a splash of pink can do! It lifts the spirits and brings a sense of playful femininity to even the most grand of settings.

After a quick pit stop for some much-needed tea and a quick snack at the hotel (because travelling is thirsty work!) I donned my pink tutu and headed out for my first foray into Rome.

And darling, it’s a fashionista’s dream! From the cobblestone streets of Trastevere to the iconic Piazza Navona, I was surrounded by fashion that made my heart flutter. It's as if Romans are born with an innate sense of style! I saw so many exquisite ladies sporting beautiful vintage dresses and elegant coats, some even sporting a daring dash of pink, and their poise and elegance simply radiated. I practically spent half the day with my nose in the shop windows, ogling the latest trends. Of course, I snagged a couple of gems: a breathtaking floral headpiece and a chic vintage clutch that went perfectly with my pink tutu!

Now, my visit wouldn’t have been complete without a ballet performance. After all, I can't escape the siren song of a grand stage! This week, Rome's Opera House, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, was hosting the renowned ballet Swan Lake, and let me tell you, it was absolutely phenomenal! The exquisite choreography, the intricate costuming, the dancers, each with their own breathtakingly powerful technique and graceful movement… It was like a dream. I even had a quick chat with a fellow ballet enthusiast outside the Opera House. We talked about our favourite ballerina performances and agreed that dancing under a grand chandelier with that beautiful soft light, really does something to your soul, right?

Speaking of a beautiful light… Have you ever seen Rome at sunset? It's pure magic! On Thursday evening, after exploring the heart of the city and indulging in some scrumptious pasta, I climbed to the top of the Aventine Hill and gazed at the panoramic view of the Roman skyline. The light bathed everything in a warm golden glow, casting shadows across the ancient city like a painting. I just stood there in awe, lost in the beauty of it all, taking it all in and thinking of my Derbyshire village and how much this journey is truly a dream come true.

My trip wasn’t all about glitz and glamour, though. It's incredible how easily you can blend into Roman life. I discovered a local trattoria near the Pantheon and had the most delightful pasta dish – it was truly a revelation! I found the Italian way of life so fascinating! From the animated conversations in local cafes to the leisurely pace of the city, I found myself soaking in the charming and laid-back vibes. It felt like a much slower, more soulful pace than our usual rush back home!

It’s safe to say that I left a little bit of my heart in Rome. The city is vibrant and full of surprises! But the best thing about Rome? The locals. The Roman people were the warmest and most welcoming souls. Everyone from the friendly barista in the cafe to the kind gentleman who helped me with my travel directions. Everyone I met was ready to help, chat, or even take a picture with this tutu-wearing ballerina.

This trip has shown me that wearing a pink tutu is truly a passport to joy and connection. It sparks conversations, melts hearts, and encourages everyone to embrace a bit of their own playful spirit! That’s my ultimate mission: to spread the love of pink, the magic of tutus, and the power of ballet, to all corners of the world. And believe me, dear readers, I’m just getting started!

As I catch my train back home to Derbyshire, my mind races with inspiration and new ideas for pink tutu outfits and performances. I already feel the urge to share my Roman adventure with the world. There are so many more places to discover, so many more hearts to touch, so many more tutus to inspire! And I can’t wait to continue sharing them all with you right here on pink-tutu.com every Wednesday!

See you all next week for more pink-tastic adventures. Ciao bella!

Until next time!

Emma x
