Train Travel: A Romantic Affair
As you all know, I adore the journey as much as the destination, and what better way to arrive in Rome than on a sleek, silver train? I'm a total train enthusiast, especially for long journeys. The rhythmic clack-clack-clack of the wheels against the tracks always lulls me into a dreamy state, perfect for writing my blog posts, catching up on my ballet reads (currently enthralled by 'The Little Ballet' by Deborah Boland), and, of course, admiring the ever-changing scenery from my window seat.
This trip, though, had an extra special touch: my new pink satin travel bag. It's a bespoke beauty with hand-painted roses, perfect for my ballerina essentials – a spare tutu, pointe shoes (a girl can't resist a quick twirl even in the most stunning landscapes), and my favourite lavender-scented ballet kit. It was a complete joy to unpack and unpack my delicate treasures amidst the bustling train station, as if a princess stepping out of a carriage, only this time with the magic of a tutu!
Roma Mia, A Ballet of Sensory Delights
I'm still pinching myself! Rome truly feels like a ballet: a harmonious choreography of ancient beauty, bustling streets, and charming people. Every corner reveals a hidden gem - the graceful arch of an ancient bridge, the majestic Colosseum, or the captivating mosaic floors in St Peter's Basilica. I must confess, my inner ballerina did pirouette with excitement at the sight of all those captivating details.
The air in Rome hums with a vibrant energy, a symphony of colours, scents, and sounds. From the melodious tinkling of street musicians to the aroma of freshly baked bread wafting from charming cafes, the senses are on overdrive. It's a sensory extravaganza, and even I, with my focus on tutus and dance, couldn't resist succumbing to the charm of this exquisite city.
Tutu Time: The Pantheon, My Personal Stage
Of course, no travel post would be complete without a delightful pink tutu moment! This afternoon, I twirled my way around the magnificent Pantheon, its breathtaking dome a symbol of human ingenuity and beauty. Imagine a giant ballerina tutu spun into the very heavens, and that's the kind of awe-inspiring effect it had on me!
I admit, a few tourists stopped, surprised, and delighted by my pink tutu moment, as if my performance was a tiny ballet of joy within the grandeur of this timeless masterpiece. But hey, my mission is to share the magic of tutus and spread their joy, and what better way than on a stage like the Pantheon?
Rome's Cultural Symphony
One of the reasons I chose Rome for this week's blog post is its breathtaking cultural diversity. On this day, the 30th of March, Rome offers a symphony of exciting events – from the stunning performances of the Italian Opera to fascinating museum exhibits.
My itinerary includes:
- Opera Under the Stars: The opera house is hosting a breathtaking performance of "Rigoletto" this evening. My love for ballet is no secret, but opera's powerful, emotive music resonates deeply with me. I just can't wait to lose myself in the rich harmonies and dramatic storytelling!
- Fashion Fiesta at Via Condotti: Known as the "fifth avenue of Rome," Via Condotti promises an enchanting experience for every fashionista. I plan to indulge my inner shopper, finding exquisite Italian handbags and exquisite footwear to add a touch of Italian glamour to my tutu wardrobe.
Ballet Bliss at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma: My love for the art of ballet will lead me to the beautiful Teatro dell'Opera di Roma tomorrow for their exceptional performance of "La Sylphide," a ballet that blends elegance and power. The opportunity to experience world-class ballet in a setting like this is truly magical!
Sharing the Pink Tutu Love

This evening, I will be taking a "Ballet Under the Stars" workshop at a charming studio tucked away in a hidden cobblestone street. Imagine dancing with a group of passionate ballet enthusiasts under the twinkling Roman night sky! It's going to be an unforgettable experience, one that I will cherish and share with you all.
